I need good beginning twirling baton routine?

Okay, don't need you to design a routine for me, but I've just recently discovered how beautiful baton twirling is, and I want to start. The thing is, all I know is horizontals, figure eights, a few throws, and some tricks I made up myself while fooling around with my baton. I have tons of time to practice and everything, but I've learned all I can from the internet and reading the books on batoning at my library. I need to take some sort of classes, but my parents don't really think I'm serious about this and kinda think it's silly (though they are very supportive). I need to make a really good routine and perform it for them and maybe they'll let me take some classes. But I don't know how long it should be or what tricks I should do or what order?

Well a solo routine usually is about 2 mins long, depending on level and what association you are twirling within. As for order, typically you can mix it up here and there but maintain certain "sections" such as a section of horizontals, then finger, rolls, verticals, etc. Depending on your level. Just have fun with it, and keep showing them how much it would mean to you, and already does. Good luck!
