I use "²" (excluding the quote marks but including the ampersand and semi-colon) for "squared" (like in x²) , "³" for "cubed" (like in x³), "√" for square root sign √, "∫" for integral sign ∫, "Σ" for summation sign Σ, "∞" for infinity sign ∞, "→" for right arrow → and "⇒" for right double arrow ⇒
For the Greek letters, use the name (capitalized for capital letter, not capitalized for small letter). For example, "Δ" gives Δ (also good for triangle symbol and "change in", like Δx) while "δ" gives δ
