What happened to Scott Weiland's voice?

I mean just listen to it. How'd it go from him sounding like how he did when he was in Stone Temple Pilots to how he sounds in Velvet Revolver?

    yeah, blame the drugs

I prefer him in 90s too, his voice was at his best. Like creep, vasoline, plush etc.

Source(s): i still <3 him though, one of a kind

I'm not sure it's his voice, or just the difference in music styles between the two songs. I prefer him singing Plush, but I also like Fall To Pieces.

I recently saw him in concert with Velvet Revolver and they did both old STP (his voice sounds lower in their first 2 more popular cds than their later ones i.e. tiny music, shangra la di da.) and newer Velvet Revolver songs as well as some GNR songs, he totally nailed the old stuff to sound like they used but also hit the new stuff right on, so i dont know maybe its a personal choice or its harder on his vocal cords to hit those old lower notes??

Well, everybody has bad days when they sing. I don't think he lost his voice. Some singers go through periods where their voice is bad for a few months...

Age has nothing to do with it. His voice on Tiny Music sounded kind of shot. Meanwhile, Mike Patton is the same age and his voice is still as strong as ever.

Yeah drugs (esp heroin) will mess with your body.

Robin Zander (Cheap Trick) is 56 and he still sounds great. But he lives a very healthy lifestyle.

It's the drugs as someone else mentioned. He is lucky to be alive.

I think he got older. Time, life happened. Im sure if you get his new solo album, he sounds even older.
