In an interview, how long can I pause to think about my answer?

So the interviewer asks me a question. Should I answer immediately, 2 or 3 seconds after, or can I wait about 10 seconds to form my answer? How long is rude, and persuades the interviewer that you need a really long time to think?

You don't want dead time, a few seconds, say anything even "hmm, I think...". If you take too long you look indecisive, dishonest or too nervous. Good luck.

You should only leave 2 or 3 seconds max.
