What was the first car made with engine in trunk?

A movie was made about this car. There are 50 made. I think it had a helicopter engine but it was in the trunk rather than under the hood. what was the make?

You're thinking of the "Tucker". Yes, in many ways it was really ahead of it's time. However I don't believe it was the very first rear engined car. The Tucker dates to 1948, and I know that Volkswagen was making a rear engined military vehicle around the late 1930's that eventually developed into the Beetle.

PS. I didn't have to look it up on Wikipedia.

TUCKER! A great American car ahead of its time in performance and safety. Unfortunately DOA, because of big industry and the government. Its also a great movie if you can find it. It's called "Tucker"

But it is certainly not the first car to have its engine in the rear.
