Is Adele a nickname for the name Adelaide?
i love the French name Adele and i saw the French name Adelaide somewhere and just wondering if Adele is a nickname for Adelaide or Adele is just a seperate name?

Dylan(im a girl)- yeah i agree i like Adele alot better and to be honest when i thought Adele was a nn for Adelaide i kinda got disappointed bc i dont like the name Adelaide lol

I think Adele is a name in its own right; Adelaide is a form of the German name Adelheid although both names spring from the same Germanic origin. Pretty name.

I think they are seperate names, but I don't see why Adele couldn't be a nickname for Adelaide. Personally thought I like the name Adele berrer than Adelaide.

I think Addie is a cute nickname for the name Adelaide which is beautiful by the way!
And i think Adele is a seperate name.

In reality, they are two seperate names. However, I prefer for Adele to be a nickname for Adelaide. I think it's adorable!

Adele is it's own name that originated from the name Adelaide.
You could use it as a nickname for it though and it would completely fine.
