Twins opener at Target Field?

The Twins regular season opener, at home, is April 12. Does the fact that they have already played 2 exhibition games, against the Cardinals, there take away some of the excitement/anticipation of opening their new ballpark? I know that more and more teams are playing home games prior to the start of the regular season. Thoughts?

Thanks

I don't think so: the general feel around those two games was "this isn't a serious game". Of course they played serious baseball, but it was really just to get used to playing there. I think opening night is going to be a lot more electric: fans are going to be excited, the season will be starting, and the atmosphere will be completely different.

The play the games before the openers so the players can get to see the dimensions of the new field before Opening Day. Both the Mets and Yankees opened new stadiums last year, and they played 2 games bore they went on the season to open.

Opening Day is something special and no exhibitons can take anything away from that.

Not at all: the new ballpark is gorgeous, and fans have been looking forward to the opening for two years. (We also own most of it, since it was built with Minnesota tax payer money, heh.) We also know that exhibition games don't count; and this season there's hope that Joe Mauer will take the Twins to the playoffs and the Series!

To some, a little bit but not really. I am going to the home opener and i am more excited after seeing the ballpark! They are supposed to have many festivities and things that they didnt have at the spring training games.

Regualr season games are much more exciting than the 2 test games they ahd

its something like when Wrigley opening night was rained out for the National game and the real opening night was for the fans the next night
