Yes you'll need a bottom bracket tool to install, of which depends on the manufacturer of the bottom bracket. Usually they're made by Shimano, Campagnolo or ISIS.
You'll need to know what bottom bracket type your frame has. They either come in English or Italian (reverse) threading, 68mm, 70mm, or 73mm in width. Italian is always 70mm.
You'll need to grease the threads.

It really depends on what type it is they all need different specialist tools
you will need to clean the threads in the bottom bracket shell, then apply some grease to them
then screw in the cup ( the small part of the bb) then screw in the bb it's self using the cup as a guide then tighten them both up. I can't tell you what tool you will need to tighten it unless you tell me what type of bb it is (make etc)
