We don't celebrate any Holidays, because most are based on Pagan practices.
We do keep a Memorial to Christ's Death, as he instructed his followers to do.
This is done once a year, at approximately the date of Passover. Luke 22:1 -- Exodus 12:14.
While that is about the same time of year as Easter, it isn't the same. Those who celebrate Easter, are commemorating Jesus Resurrection. That is not the occasion he told us to keep a Memorial of.
He told us to keep a Memorial of his death.

We Witnesses do know how to have fun. We don't celebrate holidays, but that doesn't mean we are denied anything. Holidays have pagan backgrounds that we don't agree with or believe such as, Santa, the Easter Bunny, and leprechauns. Don't feel sorry for her, because she gets gifts from the heart rather than just because someone has to on a certain day. She has a loving family and friends in her congregation that love her and give her the things that will last a life time, because they share the same love for Jehovah.

Thank you for your sympathetic thoughts on behalf of my spiritual sister.
As has been amply explained, we do celebrate other events - the most important one being the one Jesus expressly told us to ( the Lords Evening Meal).
I for one, like to give presents unprompted. Giving this way lets the receiver know the the gift is from the heart and not because society tells us to do so.
We also may CHOOSE to celebrate fathers day (no pagan connection) and wedding anniversaries. In reality the girl at your school is free to give gifts without feeling obliged unlike many of her peers. (How many times have you heard ungrateful comments re: the gift some who celebrate birthdays have received? I have heard many - you don't get comments like this from witnesses - we appreciate the unprompted show of love regardless of the gift given)

We have our own social activities which are a great joy for us.
Holidays often involve pagan and nationalistic observances and Jesus commanded we be no part of the world. How can we be that if we become part of the world which is not conscientious of being uncontaminated with things that are part of Satan's system of things.
We have many activities that we enjoy throughout the year such as parties, dances, barbecues might go bowling, watch a game; quiz games or take a day trip out and even just enjoy one another association over lunch or dinner.
I have not seen one sad young one in my congregation who feels they are missing out, they are given gifts spontaneously not under compulsion because a calendar date.
We as Jehovah's Witnesses enjoy our association and we are clean of partaking in things of this world that Christ himself would avoid.

You can already see by the answers given by my brothers and sisters here that we don't celebrate Pagan holidays.
Our worship is pure, not tainted by pagan customs.
Satan would definitely love us to celebrate them but we certainly get enjoyment out of giving him a slap in the face by saying no.
There is a lot more enjoyment in serving Jehovah than the world's few days of merry making. We will hold our integrity and have a clean conscience before our God. Don't feel sorry for her, as Porcelain Vessel points out, she will live forever.

Most Holidays are Pagan or support racism, nationalism and secularism.
We do not observe any Holidays that support these beliefs
Eph. 5:10, 11: “Keep on making sure of what is acceptable to the Lord; and quit sharing with them in the unfruitful works that belong to the darkness, but, rather, even be reproving them.”
2 Cor. 6:14-18: “What fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Be′lial? Or what portion does a faithful person have with an unbeliever? And what agreement does God’s temple have with idols? . . . ‘“Therefore get out from among them, and separate yourselves,” says Jehovah, “and quit touching the unclean thing”’; ‘“and I will take you in, . . . and you will be sons and daughters to me,” says Jehovah the Almighty.’” (Genuine love for Jehovah and a strong desire to be pleasing to him will help a person to break free from unchristian practices that may have had emotional appeal. A person who really knows and loves Jehovah does not feel that by shunning practices that honor false gods or that promote falsehood he is in any way deprived of happiness. Genuine love causes him to rejoice, not over unrighteousness, but with the truth. See 1 Corinthians 13:6.)
and not Easter. Easter is a Pagan holiday of fertility ( Eggs and Rabbits?!?!?) We do observe the memorial of Jesus death commanded at Luke 22:19

It is lovely that you show concern for our sister.
We celebrate our wedding anniversaries and Jesus' death - the memorial. But this does not mean we do not do anything else throughout the year!
Have you spoken to this young girl and ask her what her thoughts are on this subject? If not, give it ago, you may be surprised what she has to say.
We do not have boring lives; we are too busy for that.

We commemorate the death of Jesus Christ. I wouldn't feel bad, if you want something you have to wait for a birthday or christmas etc. Witness children get presents throughout the year because our parents love us not because they are forced to by the sociological norms of a holiday.

Well obviously a few of the people just above my comment didn't bother to read the other comments about how..
WE JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES HAVE FUN EVERYDAY OF THE YEAR. WE LAUGH ALL THE TIME. DON'T FEEL SORRY FOR ANY OF US.
WE ENJOY LIFE AND GOOD ASSOCIATION WITH EACH OTHER.
WE JUST DO NOT SHARE IN PAGAN OR NATIONALISTIC CELEBRATIONS.
OK. Got it?
