Who gets the tip on a takeout order?
I've seen lots of questions about whether or not you should tip on a takeout order at a restaurant. But what I want to know is: If you DO tip, who gets the tip? Is it split between all of the servers? What if the place is pick-up only and has no servers? Is it split between everyone who works there, or does your cashier get it all?

Where I work, the server that put together the order gets the tip. Places like Applebees have a person that just does to go's, in those cases he or she would get the tip.
Why do I tip for to-go? Because someone had to take the time to put it together, and a lot of times its a waitress, who also had dine in customers. Some nights, to go orders can really get in the way, and hold up your tables that ARE going to be tipping you accordingly.
*Actually its not the same as McDonalds. They have someone that cooks, someone that adds toppings, someone else to wrap and hand over. In a real restaurant the servers are making the salads, adding the condiments, packaging untesils, napkins and such...while still getting refills, taking orders and delivering food. Not to mention McDonalds pays minimum wage.

Sometimes it depends on the restaurant. Most serves get to keep the tips on orders they take. Where I worked the cashier was also the owner so when she took the orders she would split the money with the kitchen.

Do you tip the person who hands you your food at McDonald's or Burger King? No. Same thing.
