Why won't my laptop turn on?

My laptop went dead, and at first I thought it was the power cord that was broken. I bought 2 power cords online, but they don't charge it either. Finally, I went to best buy and bought an expensive universal one that came with lots of different tips. It specifically has the one for the model of my laptop. I plugged it in, and nothing! My computer is completely dead. It doesn't boot up or anything. Can someone please tell me what is wrong. Is it the battery? I have no clue!

With a proper power adapter, the laptop should still run, even if the battery is dead.

Your symptoms suggest something else is wrong. We need to know the laptop make and model to be able to guess any further... Hopefully it's not a HP laptop...

before anything else try this, remove the battery and unplug the power cord. hold the power button for at least a minute then plug the power cord while holding the power button. after it boots you can seat the battery back.

It shouldn't be the battery, because most laptops can run without a battery if they're plugged in.. at least mine can.

You might've just lost a laptop to a random reason. Don't worry, you can still save all of your files, or at least most of them. Just remove the Hard Drive and bring it into geek squad or something to have them transfer files.

Probably, either the solder connections inside your machine where the power plug goes in are broken, or the charging/voltage regulation circuits are broken. In either case, take it to a qualified technician.

Have you tried changing the battery? That may help it turn on

Its probably the battery. You should replace it and it may work.
