Indians: why our govt is not taking efforts to get back the black money deposited by Indians in Swiss banks?

This is happening since 1947, Indian govt particularly Congress will not make any request because Nehru and other big family names will come to the street. Even if they disclose it will be very hard to bring back the money, it will collapse Swiss economy.

US govt found out similar practice by wealthy people who were hiding money in Swiss bank to escape from taxes. US asked for details,first swiss banks refused but closed door meetings between two country diplomats resolved the issue and US got what they want. Of course EU owes more money to US since WW.

I don't think any massive public movements will fix or get this. Because govt will always come by and say we will take appropriate measures and divert the attention on some border issue or domestic violence later. Many leading papers, blogs, letters to govt have been posted 2 years back and nothing has been done. LK Advani family members are part of the account holders.

DMK and ADMK heads and ministers count them in too, that is why they always sideline with Central power to get away from IT raid and get small perks for their coalition. Nationally it is very hard to get it done, it might be possible if it goes to international level. All India massive bandh and fasting in front of all consulates would definitely help. It should be a non-violence movement, initially local govt might do latti charge. Only demand is to get the list of account holders and get atleast half of the money back to India. Meanwhile all account activities and international phone calls should be monitored. Otherwise it will be easily transferred to another country with help of overseas people.

Recently I read it is around $1500 billion = Rs.72,800,000,000,000. India tops among Russia, UK, Ukraine, China. The foreign debt of India is $115 billion. That means black money as much as 13 times our debt is lying in the lockers of Swiss banks. These details were published in 2006 by Swiss Banks Association and does not include fresh deposits and interest on deposits till date. The details of accounts with other international banks are not available. That may add up some $100 billion more. If this is brought out, India's debts can be paid within 24 hours. Income tax in India can be abolished. The national budget can run only with the interest on the left over money which is 12 times the debt amount. We can have good roads, free education, stable strong economy, and build all basic operations of the nation. Every head count of India's population can get atleast of Rs.1 lakh free as 'Resident Citizen Aid'. The British were straight forward in plundering our princely states and openly carried it to England. They should have been rewarded more for successfully ruling us for more than 400 years. They left behind many good universities, architectural buildings, hospitals, dams, postal system, railways, industries, administration, governance, hill resorts etc. Indian money in Swiss banks is more than all the other countries combined !!!! The value looted by the poor British between 1526 - 1947 in India is only a small fraction when compared to the Swiss bank accounts of Indians. Well, would we all be alive to enjoy this money, if brought to public...!!!!??? Definitely India is the richest nation in the world but that money is not with the nation for immediate utilisation.

I am blank on this issue. Really, it is surprising that Indian govt. is not making a formal request to know the names. How movement can be started? No idea. I don't whether SC will entertain any PIL on this. I am also not sure that you can ask for it under RTI.

Lack of Political will probabily you want to point out to. But man my prediction you will have all the politician robbed of their fortunes if this is done. Most of these a/c belong to politicians

all politicians, bureaucrats have accounts there. why they will do anything on this issue. are they fool?
