The inseam is the length from the crotch seam to the hem of the jean. The inseam is usually 10 inches shorter than the outside seam from waistband to hem. A petite inseam is about 28 1/2 inches. Regular is about 31 1/2. And tall lengths are about 32 - 34 inches long. Skinny jeans, or ankle pants, are usually 29 inches because they are designed to hit at the ankle. Hope this helps. Men's jeans are sold by waist and inseam. For example: 32x34.

Inseams are the seams on the inner side of the pants. They will be shorter. If you measure the length of the inseam on your existing pants, or measure the inside of your leg, then that will tell you.
