What is the name of the Pope's hat?

Whats the name of the Pope's hat that he wears sometimes. Its big and white and maybe has a front section and a back section? It might also have a band around the bottom. Its not the Papal Tiara by the way. Sorry that's really vague, but thank you!

The pope traditionally wears three objects on his head. The white skullcap is called a zucchetto. The ceremonial head covering, that looks a bit like the chess piece it inspired, is called a mitre. The triple crown, shown on the papal flag above the crossed keys is called a tiara.

Well, they keep changing it's name every time there's a new pope in town but I believe the current one is known as Benny.

It's generic hat name is Mitre which has something to do with the way the bits form a joint ( which has nothing to do with t shirts enquiring 'does the Pope smoke dope?)

With evolution of Adam, there was loss of normal body protection, including fur, claws, etc. Hence man had to use protective garments. The Pope's garments symbolize a universal protective garment, and he is the head of the Roman Catholic Church. Jesus was a simple preacher, who took nothing but his garment which was a vestment that his mother had made for Him. He had some sandals. He had no special protective garments, though he would cover his head with a kind of a shawl or piece of linen. Other simple men include the Father of independent India, Mahmatma Gandhi, and some saints and sages.

It's a mitre. The white one, specifically, is a "mitra simplex."
