I am a blindness rehabilitation assistant living in Texas. I write fantasy and would like to publish books someday. I am extremely interested in issues of religion. I am a Judeo-Christian deist who was raised Catholic. I also explored Bahai'ism and Wicca during my college years and early thirties. Is it possible to move books from my Kindle Fire to my Paperwhite?
I want to be able to sort and categorize my existing Kindle library. My Fire lacks this capability, but my new Paperwhite has it. do I have to move all of the books on my Fire to the cloud first?
1 AnswerPDAs & Handhelds7 years agoIs there a way to organize my books on my Kindle Fire?
For instance, I'd like to be able to group together all of my Mercedes Lackey books, or group them by series, such as Valdemar, Elemental Masters, etc. But there doesn't seem to be a way to.
I have asked in the Kindle help forum and have gotten no response, even to say it's not possible.

The system wouldn't even function when Katherine Sibelius went to encourage people to sign up. Sounds to me like they need to fire the Canadian company and get Apple to design a better system.

4 AnswersEtiquette8 years agoHow do you think the Shroud of Turin was made?
I'm guessing that the Sudarium of Oviedo was removed from the face and folded before the Shroud was laid over the face.
If the corpse was not Jesus of Nazareth, how did someone get an artist's model to consent to having the injuries of a crucifixion recreated on him? If it was not an artist's model, but was some other corpse of a crucifixion victim, why would there have been bleeding thorn injuries to the forehead and scalp? You wouldn't be able to get a body until after it was dead, at which time it stops bleeding. The fact that a sudarium was with the body points to a real corpse, not an artist's model.
Someone has (and I think justifiably) pointed out that a shroud is typically wrapped around a body, not draped, as the Shroud of Turin was. If you've seen real fingerprints taken, you know that wrapping would cause a distorted image, as you'd get all of a body's surface, not just the top and bottom sides of it. This to me is the strongest argument for the Shroud being a hoax. But you still run into the issue of artist's model versus corpse, don't you?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoCatholic Exorcism Ritual?
As I understand it, the Catholic exorcism ritual relies on the exorcist not acknowledging the existence of the demon or whatever entity is being exorcised. How does that work, exactly? How do you attempt to banish something without acknowledging its presence? How do you confront evil without facing it and naming it?
Or is my perception of it only the Hollywood version?
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhere could I find information about Deaf events in my area?
I am studying to become an ASL interpreter. I'd like to become acquainted with the people I eventually hope to serve, and that is also the best way to practice the language while I learn it.
Posted here because Deaf people are not disabled.
2 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups8 years agoWriter's Question?
This question seems intrusive to me to be asking, but I am writing a story that includes two gay characters, so it would help me to know.
How do two gay men decide which of them will be the top and the bottom? Do you just instinctively know, or do you need to specifically ask? Do some gay couples ever switch roles if they feel like doing so?
I hope I haven't offended anyone, but I am too shy to ask my gay friends about this, for fear of intruding on their private lives.
4 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender8 years agoRoyal Pains Question from Writer--Sharp-force trauma abdominal bleed...?
For any doctor who happened to see last night's episode of Royal Pains, in which Hank attempted to stop a character from bleeding to death from an abdominal stab wound by clamping off the hepatic artery, applying direct pressure, and sprinkling in some coagulant powder--
How accurate was that, and how much of it was Hollywood? I would like to use some of it in a story I'm working on.

11 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoIs it possible to place a buy order for shares of an IFO stock ahead of time?
I'd like to buy shares of Facebook on the date of its IPO, but I'll be at work on that day and won't be able to pay attention to the stock market while at the office. I usually like to place GTC with extended hours orders ahead of time so I can set it and forget it, as it were. Can you do that for an IPO?
