What is your opinion about people who say grace aloud in public?

As someone who works in a restaurant and as someone who lives in the deep south, I see families and groups pause to say grace/give thanks. Most people (about 97%) do it in a lower tone of voice so 1) they keep it private and 2) not to disrupt those around them. Whenever I observe this, I stop what I'm doing and pause respectfully. I would like others to be respectful of my beliefs so I am always respectful of others, even if they are different.

Then there are those who feel the need to wear their religion on their shoulders. They want everyone around them to know they are Christians and not just that, but more Christian than thou. They will defend their behavior by alluding to the fact that since it glorifies God, any behavior is acceptable. This behavior is more rooted in ego-masturbation and self-righteousness than an act of humility to give thanks for the food you are about to receive. They're out there, we've all encountered them and Christian or not, we all think the same thing about them.

Why should they whisper? I don't agree with saying grace, it indicates hat the person has a foolish attachement to myth, but why should they hide it? if that is what they believe, it's no skin of my nose if they express it out loud. We hear a lot more objectionable things every day out in public by people who think we all need to hear their cel phone conversations.

Sally: I have found that opening my copy of the Q'uran is a great way to avoid annoying conversations with seatmates on a plane....

Doesn't bother me at all....but I will admit that if I hear a Muslim or Muslims praying on an airplane we share, I would be nervous!

They are ignoring the bible and Jesus' command that they pray in private.
