Is it possible to move books from my Kindle Fire to my Paperwhite?

I want to be able to sort and categorize my existing Kindle library. My Fire lacks this capability, but my new Paperwhite has it. do I have to move all of the books on my Fire to the cloud first?

    If you purchased them from Amazon then they're already available in the cloud, all you have to do is download them. If they came from another source then they need to be uploaded, or copied via USB.
