can you use a 36h bmx hub with a 36h 700c road bike rim?? 10 points to best answer?
Im building a fixed gear bike and i was wondering if i could use a bmx hub!! Im not sure how well it will work but i havent heard of anybody trying it before so i want to try it..

Front hubs, no problem. For the rear, BMX hubs can be used for a freewheel, but fixed gear hubs are designed with a reverse thread for the lockring to keep the cog from coming off. If you are building a wheel, it is probably better to choose a hub designed for what you plan to do with it. If you already have the BMX rear hub you will save a bit of money, but if you have to buy a hub anyway there is no reason to not buy the right hub.

sure, you'll want to use a spoke length calculator to make sure you get the right lengths.
but: the problem is BMX hubs are different width for the axles / dropouts than a road bike.
