my 6 month old puppy is sick. ( plz answer)?

I have a 6 month old labrador retriever and it has been sick from 5 days. It vomits a lot.It doesnt eat anything. its not the active playful dog it used to be. im really worried. i took it to the vet. he said it has worms in its stomach. He gave my dog some pills and syrup. It doesnt eat the pills. so, we have to force it. It has not eaten for 3 days, and i think it might die. it only drinks water and after drinking water, it vomits. just some waterry semi, liquid stuff. PLZ help i dont want to lose my puppy. I love it very much.

and there are no worms in it poop.

can you tell me what i should do?

what type of worms are they?

and it also looks very week. I need to take it to the vet again today. I took it 3 times consecutively to the vet- yesterday, the day before, and the day day before.

bring it to a different vet. some vets are ******* stupid and dont know what they are talking about and dont like pets.. they just choose to be a vet for money.

take it to a place that really knows animals and acually loves them.

i doubt its worms and if it really hasnt eaten anything then you should bring it to a different vet sooner then later.

If you have to pill your dog - put the tablet in a ham or cheese flat, and make a follow up piece so he gobbles down the first one, and concentrates on the second yummy bit. Voila - pill gone.

However, it sounds as if the syrup is the wormer, and the pill maybe an antibiotic. So provided he gets the wormer, he should return to normal pretty fast. Have you had a fecal test done? That could point to more than just worms - and you don't need to see worms for them to have a load.

I think your vet needs to see your puppy again - and maybe do a blood workup, and scan his tummy. If he's deteriorating obviously they haven't sorted out what's wrong - and actually unless he's certain about worms, it's never a good idea to worm a sick puppy!

If you are not happy about what this vet is doing for your puppy, or not doing, go for a second opinion, or switch vets!! Leaving him like this isn't on, and at the very least, the vomiting needs to be shut down, before he dehydrates which is a real possibility, and serious, if he's throwing back any water he's taking, he could welll need to go on a drip to rehydrate him.

Add - NO MILK - unless it's goats milk which is close in make up to b itch milk - he won't be able to tolerate cows milk.

I think you need to go to a different vet.

Puppys stomach are very sensitive. Have you changed his food from what he was on with the breeder? Has he had his vaccinations yet? If he hasnt then he shouldnt be going outside, if he hasnt been outside then I cant see how he can have worms, unless the mum had them.

You may need to ring the breeder and tell him/her your problems as if you have paid for this puppy they should be paying for the dogs bills. As he has sold you a very sick puppy.

Plain Yogurt is a good thing to give for an upset stomach and Weetabix hardens up their poos. But if he is not eating and he is not keeping his water down he may well be dehydrated.

Pull up the scruff of the neck, it should immediately go back down, if it is not then he is definately dehydrated and he will need to go to the vets and be put on a drip for fluids.

But I would definately take him to another vets and tell them how many times you have seen the previous vets and there is no difference.

BTW if the puppy had worms then his eating and drinking would be excessive. It sounds like he just has an stomach infection or just a bad upset tummy.

I remember when my dog was a puppy my vet told me to feed her charcoal chicken breast. Something about the natural smokiness of the meat settled her tummy.

Perhaps a different vet if the advice this one gives you is inconclusive.

As for the pills the best way is to force it down her throat and rub her neck to work it down, then follow with a treat.

Take it to a vet and ask for an advice. if the pills didnot work then there must be some other problem. make sure that the vet you choose is a good one.

break up the tablets in his favourite food. go on a walk and try to get him to play with you so he gets excercise and feels better. maybe try giving him milk? try a different vet. go to a pet shop and give him a bone, buy him some toys. if none of this works then...you should go to a really good vet, even if it means paying more money. x

Why don't your parents take the dog to another vet? Your question makes NO sense.

"There are NO worms in it's poop" and the you ask what type of worms are they?

A WEEK consists of 7 days, so how can your dog be WEEK?

If your dog was this sick the vet should keep him/her in. If they are not then they are being negligent. TAKE HIM/HER TO A DIFFERENT VET NOW!

    Its a reakl trouble dear.

One thing I can suggest is change you vet.

Try to feed her/him by a dropper or a puppy feeder.

Try to give her luke warm water (as warm as he/she can drink)

best luck and may god bless the puppy.
