Help with teething for younger baby?
My baby is 3.5 months old and has started teething (drooling, chewing on hands, super cranky- teething was the pediatrician's best guess). He gets teething toys during the day but is waking up constantly at night and is taking very short naps. I used Tylenol yesterday which helped immensely but the pediatrician warned me to only use it as a last resort. My son is very cranky all day long without it- has anyone found anything that has helped their children? What exactly are teething tablets and should those also be a last resort?

You can massage his gums.. sometimes the counter pressure helps
give him a cold, damp washcloth to chew on
I didnt use the teething tablets, but have heard they work good.
I know this doesnt help much at this age.. but when he gets to the point that he is able to sit up in a high chair- there is a little mesh feeder you can get at walmart, its intended for feeding fresh fruit. I put a small peice of popsickle in the feeder for my baby to num on. Even just a small peice of cold popsickle seemed to help bring some relief for a while. Something to keep in mind for the summer anyways.
You can try the orajel.. my baby HATES it. She does not like the initial numbing sensation, but after a few moments, it does seem to help and she settles down. A word of caution tho.. be careful to use small amounts. I have read that it can numb the throat too and cause issues with swallowing or gag reflex.

Tylenol should really be the last resort. When my son is teething I would only give him tylenol if his temperature seemed to be a little high because he just couldn't go to sleep and would just wine with his eyes closed but never go to sleep and therefore making him more cranky. I would say i have only given him tylenol for teething a couple of times and he's 9 months. You can buy Hylands Teething Tablets at Walmart or really any store and they are natural and and not last resort. I have never used them but have heard that they work really well. I use orajel and it seems to work pretty good but make sure not to give them to much at at time. Also you can run a Humidifier at night which seams to help also. You can give them teething rings, the ones that go in the frige or the ones that go in the freezer, or you can also just use a cool washcloth whichever works better as some babies won't use the teething rings.
Everyone's babies must be teething right now as I see a bunch of posts about teething and what to do. Not making fun mind you as my son is one of them at the moment lol

Teething tablets are natural. I heard from a nurse that 2-3 helps with the teething but 4-5 help with the sleeping & you know what it worked! My son sleeps through the night when i give him 4-5. I also give him gripe water it's also good for teething & such. I tried giving my son orajel & he did not like it but it seemed to work. I mean you can try the teething tablets one day the gripe water the next. But don't give it all at one time.

You can buy homeopathic teething tablets. They work well for my daughter. Also, frozen fruit in a tea bag (cheese cloth pouch).
