Would You like to learn the Truth About Macs?

Commonly, people precieve macs as these symbols of greatness in computing. Sure they look nice, but their inner workings and hardware are just junk.

One of the biggest misconceptions about macs is "Macs don't get viruses!" You couldn't be any farther from the truth.

Another Misconception is: "Macs are expensive cause their better." NO!!!! Macs are only expensive because they have no competition in selling the Apple OS. If the APPLE OS was sold by multiple companies, then the price would go down, as any economic major will tell you. COMPETITION MEANS BETTER PRICES!!!! With nobody else selling their product, Apple can decide whatever price they want. Plus they've made themselves their own little empire of IPODS.

Back when the IPOD was still just a music player alone, They costed roughly $150 Dollars, compared too a scandisk mp3 player. Same potential, Same exact thing. Difference.. is $100 Dollars. People bought the Ipod Because it had an apple logo on it, and the world followed.

NOW.. onto the MACS Don't get VIRUSES!!!

(NERD MODE ON): Correction. Macbooks are expensive because they are the only ones who run the MAC OS..... Not because "THEY Don't get virus" .... the reason there arn't any viruses for macs is because nobody wants to make a virus for macs. Since mac users are only roughly 14% of the population. The other 84% is Windows..........

Think of it this way. Lets think Bananas, Apples, and Mangos... If you can only eat 1 type of fruit on a deserted Island. To last you the rest of your life. (Disregard ur preference on taste) There are 100 fruit in total. You could have 84 Banana (windows), 14 Apples (Apple) or 2 Mangos (Linix) Which one would you choose?

Once Apple starts out numbering PC'S... Apple is going to Get SLAMMED by virus's since their OS isn't used to warding off virus's. Its like your Immune System. You precious Macs are like Kids who've been trapped in bubbles their entire Lives. They can't handle a single cold baccteria cause their immune systems are worthless. Windows on the otherhand, are Amazing at warding off virus's. You just have to know what your doing.

None the less, Macs STILL GET VIRUS'S. Just not as frequent because the're arn't as many out there for Macs. All you need is a good Anti-Virus Software, and your set for life with a PC :)

(NERDMODE OFF): :P conclusion, Don't Buy a mac. You will be sorry in 10 years when the Scales of PC vs MAC ratio shifts. And macs become Hightech Doorstops.

Update:

The Study Below is based off amount of purchases. Mac's are drasticly underpowered. Their OS is very lightweight, so they run at okay speeds. The OS is very light compared to VISTA... Windows 7 is also very lightweight. So just wait for the scales to tip, this year later in 2010

Update 2:

Look Kid, Macs HAVE VIRUSES /Mallware/Spyware/Adware etc stuff has gotten out. Simple as that, But Everyone Downplays it thinking "Oh i have a mac, it can't be a virus." YOUR THE ONE WHO'S DEAD WRONG... And as for the IPODS? Did you ever stop to think "GEE After The ipod was established is when all the other Mp3 Players were established." I've seen Good 4g Mp3 players sit on the shelves while Apple 1g Nanos were sold out, Both at the same price. PEOPLE BUY BRANDS... Simple as that. The Scales will Tip, once Windows 7 becomes pro dominate. Vista was just a bloody failure, i'll give that to you. But XP is still the OS of choice for programmers. You have NO IDEA What your talking about Fanboy.

    Wow. What pathetic, ill-educated drivel.

    1. Macs don't get viruses is true unless you have a ludicrously broad definition of "virus". Are there vulnerabilities in OS X? Yep, like any OS. Is there malware for OS X? Yes, although it's largely download, install, and authenticate malware, not a drive-by ad banner virus. Show me a malicious virus for OS X in the wild.

    2. "Better" is a highly subjective term. For some, the extra price doesn't justify the purchase. For some, it does based on other factors. Did you know that Mac clones were sold at one time? The prices on them were often better than Apple, but many of them (with the notable exception of Power Computing) were pretty shoddy and the prices still weren't on par with a PC of similar specs. Apple didn't like their brand getting diluted and cruddy hardware giving their OS a bad rep. Jobs dropped the axe on that enterprise not long after he retook control of Apple.

    3. Absolute bullcrap. The iPod originally cost $499. It was also among the first hard drive-based MP3 players on the market with a 1.8" drive, which means it wasn't a cumbersome brick like other 2.5" MP3 players and had vastly more capacity than cheaper flash-based players, which topped out around 128MB-256MB at the time. You really have zero clue what you're talking about here. The only iPods that ever cost $150 or less were Nanos, Minis, Shuffles, etc. By then the iPod was already established.

    4. Wrong. Did you know that there were indeed malicious viruses for Mac OS 9 and earlier? That's when Apple's marketshare was below 5%. I don't think a single virus has hit OS X in the wild. There have been a few proof-of-concepts, but nothing that actually got out. Like I said earlier, install-and-authenticate malware is not the same thing as a virus. Security through obscurity is part of it, sure. That can't be argued. However, to say it's the whole thing is hugely ignorant. Ready to name some of those viruses, kiddo?

And how exactly will those scales tip in a year? Because you say so? There's really no other argument in that massive pile of crap you've posted. Apple's marketshare is on the rise and has been on the rise for some time. It'll top out eventually unless things take a fairly dramatic shift, but that's still a way off. Sorry, but you've shown yourself to be vastly ignorant of the consumer mindset and market trends. And what study is that? Not seeing one.

Bottom line: Like so many people on this site, you're just another kid who thinks he knows what he's talking about, but is largely ignorant and dimwitted. Come back when you've actually worked in the industry. Until then, make like an Abit motherboard and stop posting.

DOHOHOHOHO! You're right that there have been some pieces of malware. I already pointed that out. NOW POINT OUT THE REST. Just saying so don't make it so. Prove it. OS X certainly isn't immune. I never claimed it was. But if you say that it's happened, then back up your argument or just shut up, because you don't have one. And yes, brand does have something to do with it, but how did the brand get established? Because people liked what was being sold over the competition. Simple as that. Some MP3 players are pretty nice, and many have very cumbersome interfaces and truly lousy software. People have a tendency to stick with what they're familiar with.

Aaaaand you still have nothing to back up the tipping scales other than "Because I said so." Care to show some numbers that Windows 7 is eating Apple's momentum? XP is the OS of choice for many developers because it still trumps all others in sheer marketshare. Gee, that couldn't be why, could it?

Seriously, don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, especially when you call yourself "Vgamerboy". Come back when you can show a degree, some certifications, and solid experience in the field. Until then, you're just another ignorant kid on YA shooting his mouth off. Yes, great torchbearer, bring your "truth" to us unenlightened masses! If only the millions of people who already own Macs had come to you first!

    Cool story bro.

Even though you are correct with your facts, Macs are not as bad as you think. One thing going for them is they mostly use Apple software. That provides maximum compatibility. Minimum errors and crashes. They are also very user friendly. With powerful video and audio editing software, even the most novice computer user can create professional movies and music.

Another advantage to just using Apple software is no viruses. Yes, a mac can get viruses. But the fact that you can get just about anything done with the Apple software, users don't have to get potentially infected software.

You can get good deals on used mac products from people selling them too.

I am a windows user. But if I had the money, I wouldn't mind buying a mac as well.

It relies upon what you want to do. The OS X working gadget that runs on Macs won't be able to play various video games made for abode windows. The greater moderen Macs can run abode windows, you will have the two working platforms on the comparable gadget. Macs tent to cost greater beneficial than computers. you will get a reliable gaming laptop for $one thousand, Macs generally fee two times that.

Mac laptops ranked #4 in quality in a recent study, behind Asus, Toshiba, and SONY, in that order. Yes, they're high-quality machines, but they're not the highest - that honor goes to Asus.
