How can I dry my gameboy?
I recently started playing my old gameboy color and the batteries ran out so I opened the battery compartment and removed the batteries and... in the area where one battery was there seemed to be a saltish/crystallish substance all over.
I had no idea what to make of this so I poured a very small amount of water in and used a napkin to dry it but now my gameboy seems to have some water inside of it. It isn't a large amount, so it shouldn't cause any real damage but it's annoying to have water dribble on my hands every time I pick it up.
Recommendations? (Please keep it constructive, I'm aware I may have had a stupid moment)

You could remove the cover very carefully and let it dry.
But just for future reference, the residue in the compartment was acid from a dead battery. You cannot remove this with water. If it was a lot it also will spread along the metal connectors and eventually infect the inside components. The only way to neutralize it is with vinegar and a small brush.
You might have noticed this happeneing before with another device. You think you clean it off and it works for a while, then one day later on, it doesn't anymore. This is acid damage to the circuit boards.

Ya, a very stupid moment >_<
That stuff was battery acid, i hope you didnt get any on your hands.
Use a precision screwdriver and take off the front and back, leave all 3 pieces on kitchen cloth in your airing cuboard overnight and when you reassemble hopefully it will be fine. But since battery acid has already leaked into it and you have watered it down and spread it around its insides there is a strong possability it is dead or will short out if you continue to use it before drying it out.
good luck =]
(i've tried the rice trick with my HTC hero when it fell into the toilet and i do believe its a myth and that the items just dry by themselves whilst in the rice. if you hold a piece of rice milimeteres above a glass of water it wont rise to it >_< )

Put rice in a bag and then put the gameboy in the bag for a day or so. The rice will pull the moisture out of the gameboy.

put it in a container full of rice.... i know it sounds stupid but i jumped n a pool with my phone in my pocket and then put it in the rice and the rice absorbed all of the unwanted water
