problem with maple trees?

I'm the head custodian at a school and four of my maple trees haven't dropped the seeds from the previous year. I did some pruning on them late fall. Not heavy pruning. leaf buds haven't grown yet either. I've snapped a couple of twigs to make sure they'er still green and they are. I don't know if their infested or what.

The unusually cold winter might have affected them.

Cut a small branch off, put it into a bag and take the cutting to a nursery. Let the manager see if maybe you do have insects causing trouble. A good tree spraying might be all you need, but it will have to be done professionally. Ask the nursery manager to give you a couple of names/numbers of tree companies that do this type of work.

I have one huge silver maple tree in the back yard, it does send all those seeds out. I get up on a ladder and most somehow miss the gutters so no problems there. Raking them up is a chore and still miss enough that there are trees sprouting up in the flower beds. The best thing besides the good shade in the summer is that it didn't break when we had a major ice storm, most trees did but this tree many call a "trash-tree" with stood the load of ice on the branches. I don't worry about the neighbor's getting the seeds or leaves, I get their cottonwood fuzz and leaves from their trees, one never trims the wild vines and overhanging branches on the fence, so that is my job.
