Ron I hope you get back to me, but if helical means what I think it does there is a slight angle on the gear but I think it could work with out it.

what kind of gear? is it hardened? is it helical? how big? i work at a machine shop, we're not too cheap, but still reasonable. we don't have the capacity for helical gears, or really long ones, but little to medium sized straight cut gears we can do on our wire EDM machine.
