Will feminism sink the present UK government?

The second highest politician in the UK is Hariett Harman, well known for promoting her feminist views http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/harm... and most women in the government (73%) are feminists too.

Lots of people - men and women - are tired of all the ranting, sexism, and silly rhetoric. But public awareness about the reality of feminism is limited, so how much do you think that feminism will backfire on the present UK government when it comes to the election?

Somebody should tell Ms Harman that this is not the 1970's and we are not doing a fun sit-in.

These shenanigans are irritating coming from feminist professors on college campuses. But they are outrageous coming from serious power players in the ruling party during the most serious economic crisis in 70 years.

Talk about misplaced priorities! Particularly at a time when men are far worse affected by the layoffs etc. This could be the straw that breaks the camel's back. How men continue to tolerate this juvenile stuff in the 21st Century is beyond me.

I am ashamed to say I once voted labour! Never again. I beleive that gordon brown is dithering but essentially trustworthy. But having principles isn't enough, judgment, forsight and the willingness to make difficult choices is also essential. But it was Blair who brought us to where we are now, because he had the audacity to pull the wool over our eyes. Relliant on a nanny state, prying into our private lives, leveying more hidden taxes, fines instead of prison for almost any crime short of murder, fuel prices, crippling poverty for ordinary two parent famillies and pensioners, an education system that for all their tinkering actually has created a greater poverty for generations to come, deep divisions in society in terms of culture, colour, class and wealth. You can not create a level playing field, you can not spoon feed the vulnerable and disadvantage the most capable. However I don't believe that was the agenda anyway. New Labour has created a new elite, a pollitical elite who are free to do as they wish, take no responsibility for their dissisions, take huge unacounted for expenses payments, look down on ordinary poeple and unsuprisingly fear us! I have no trust in this govenment and only wish that the rising fear they feel was justified.

They may, but personally I think they are likely to sink the next one too. I lost all faith in the Conservative party when I heard that the current leader approves of women-only shortlists for parliamentary seats. I now despair of all politicians.

Rio- Right, Economic Policy will win it for the conservatives, cos they've always been so good at that. This is a man that denounces "British Jobs for British Workers" as a slogan pandering to the far right.

He's more interested in "More Workers for Lower Wages"

I bet all of my sexyness that all feminist will be removed from government and from our lives. They clearly don't represent the view of the majority and therefore will lose. Its amazing that the same people they try to give privilege to(women) will be the same ones to destroy them.HOW SAD!!!

Boy please stop ranting and take your medication. These people are fighting for equal rights and equal treatment. YOU are the one who hasn't done your research. There might be radicals IN feminism, but that doesn't mean that feminists in general are against men.

Example: Some of England's kings were tyrants. Does that mean that ALL of England's Kings and Queens were tyrants?

    No.

Go back to school and take logic class. You ain't makin' sense. Feminists got rights for women in America and around the world. Instead of finding fault with them, why don't you work WITH them to end problems around the world like this?

Dr. King said that "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice EVERYWHERE."

I might not be a woman, but I'm not interested in marrying a person who is a doormat. I'm interested in finding a woman who is mentally strong, mentally capable, intelligent, a good conversationalist, friendly and caring.

Not a person who keeps her eyes on the floor and is forced to be a cook, a maid or a babysitter for a guy who is so insecure that he has to try to fill her head with lies so that he can eliminate the competition in the workplace.

If you don't like it, move to Iran. That viewpoint will be welcomed with open arms.

Feminism is the notion that women are people.

No, Gordon Brown's economic policies will. That's what most UK voters appear to care about in this election.
