How to get a skunk out of a box trap?

Get a large sheet of black plastic. Hold it up in front of you as you approach the trap so that skunk cannot see you. cover the trap with the plastic. Open trap under plastic. Slide plastic back over open end.

I think Steveo has the best plan. The only other thing I would recommend would be to wear some rubber gloves and use pliers to open the cage. Any trapped animal can get mean real fast. Most live traps are made so you can get them open without the animal getting to you but skunks are a big carrier of rabies so better safe than sorry. The gloves will help keep them from spraying your hand when you open the cage and there's probably already a bunch of it on there and you don't want it rubbing off on your hand.....it'll be a while before that goes away.

I like the black plastic idea but we always used an old blanket in the same manner. Approach the trap with the blanket held up in front of you so skunk can't see you and throw the blanket over the trap. Now you can grab the handle of the trap and pick it up without worry of being sprayed. Then take him outta town and open the trap. He'll come out eventually.

Plan #1........rain gear duct tape rubber gloves and a gas mask........LOLOLOL!!!!!

Plan #2........use the black plastic trick but throw the whole damn thing into the lake and drown the lil' bastage !.......no stink neither !

#1 shoot it with a 22LR

#2 put on gloves

#3 hold breath and remove animal

if you can, tie a rope on the door,get away wait 10 min.then pull the rope.
