Asparagus maintenance, harvesting. Any tips?
I planted a buttload of these four, maybe five years ago and let them go, ignored them except for water. This year I will eat them Yummy. I have 60 or more spears poking their little nose out. Should I harvest all of them or let some go? What size is too big, small? The local food bank will be happy with all I can give but I don't want to over harvest. Any tips?
Thank you Alex

you should leave about 1/4 to go to flower so the crowns below get enough food from photosynthesis. As far as how big is too big? Well, the smaller the spear the more tender and sweet it will be. 8 inches is about as big as I would want, usually.
