MJ fans: Why are/were the Jackson kids so calm?
Okay, so this question has been asked to death.
I'm not being disrespectful; but why are/were they so calm? Kids I know who'v lost their parents lose it, at funerals, at home, they withdraw, they don't talk. From what we've seen of Paris and Prince at the Grammy's, and the memorial...they look....normal.
Not like they were really upset. I know most of you would say "they cried!" at the memorial. (yes I'v seen pictures of Blanket with tears rolling down his face) and Paris - I didn't see any tears although she made sobbing sounds on the microphone. And Prince - he looked more pissed off than anything - I would too, if I saw news of everyone slandering my dad.
So - your opinions please?? As to why they were so calm?
I know coping skills of kids and people vary. But it's so surprising how much control they have over themselves seeing as they are so young!!
Does anyone know if Michael did teach them how to cope with sadness or sth?
Looong answers, everybody :D star if you miss him..
No, I don't expect them to be all crying and stuff, cos once you start it's hard to stop (at least for me), and I'm proud they held together so well.
I'm sure as the kids grew, Michael often went, "If you love me, you won't cry." maybe they'r remembering this :(

I am not mad at you at all. This question proves you're an intelligent person who understands things and pays lot's of attention to even the littlest details.
You know, this question has also crossed my mind once too. To be honest, i think they REALLY are sad, but they just don't show it when the camera's are on. Ofcourse, they'll behave differently, if there is someone filming them. Whenever someone is filming me i don't act normally as before. i stay calm and act steady. :)
Also, Paris is the bravest out of all of them. She may not be crying (when we see her) because she wants people to know that she's brave, and she wants to be there for her brothers, and not make them upset.
Blanket knows what's going on, but, Blanket, he has this thing for cameras. He hates cameras. You rarely see him smile, because he looks really annoyed. There was one picture and it looked like he was going to attack the camera!!! xD
That's why they look normal. They want to avoid looking at the camera and try to act normal, but still don't cry because they know someone's filming them.
Now... last but not least.. Prince. I can assure you that he is taking it hardest out of all three. That is because he is the oldest and Paris and Blanket look up to him. A lot. He's their Big Brother. Prince, is just confused and frustrated, and just, he feels like he's withdrawn into a private world. He's sad, miserable, and needs lot's of help. He looked annoyed in the memorial, because he was trying to prevent himself from crying. That's why Joe gave him gum. So it would stop him from crying. He loves Michael very much, and is traumatized because he saw his father die.
He ALWAYS looks mysteriously at the cameras, and doesn't always smile because he's just had enough and wants some freedom and peace.
I guess Michael DID teach them how to cope with sadness though, i mean, he himself had to cope with it during the Child Molestation rumors and all the other B.S. about him.
I guess he taught his kids well.
He definitely taught them something because they are all very brave.
God Bless His Angels <3
I'll STAR! :)

Lawliett you always ask questions that really stop me and make me think!! :P
I think a huge reason for them being calm might have been because they are still all so young. Grief effects you differently when you're little, particularly Blanket's age. Not only that but they were in front of so many countless people, it was a new and possibly really daunting experience for them. Perhaps they pushed upfront grief aside whilst that was going on. The memorial was, to me and no offense, an excuse for a lot of people who barely knew or loved Michael to glorify their grief and try and outdo each other on emotional speeches. The children were calm, reserved and held composure. I found that refreshing. It really upset me when Paris broke down in tears at the end.
As for the Grammys, I guess it had been months since he passed then. Kids are able to cope with the loss of a parent better if they are young.
They will always love their father but I guess they have and are learning to live without him physically here. He will always be here in spirit!

Well, what do you expect them to do? I bet they think about their daddy everyday, every hour, and they cry. They're not calm, I can assure you, they're sad and withdrawn, and they didn't talk much to anybody after the first weeks.
The children are going through a hard time now. And they will. We cannot forget that they're the children to a worldwide icon and legend, who probably has more fans than any other artists. How do you think his children feel about that? Michael having lots of female fans that were crazy after him.. And all the chaos when he goes outside! I bet they feel left out, and that they don't know everything, since their dad has been an important person for the whole world. It was always about the legend MJ, and he passed too soon, so I barely got to raise his children.
His children have to cope with his father being pasted on the first cover in papers and magazines, often with articles full of lies. The media takes no responsibility and they don't remember that MJ have kids, who is very vulnerable about that! I would've been sad and angry if that happened to my dad too, but I would've think twice before I go all: "GTFO F*CKERS, LEAVE MY DAD ALONE WTF IS YOUR PROBLEM!?" to the media, even though it's tempting. They're just children. I bet they're so sad now .. They try to cope with it, but they have no parents now .. ♥ That's too sad.

Interesting question. *star*
Probably because since they are in the eyes of the public, they don't want to make a great big fuss because then the media will go for them even more, and they hate that.
Also, because like you said, he must have said, "If You Love Me, You Won't Cry" and since they love their dad, they obeyed him.
And finally, because they were so traumatized by his death, they couldn't cry, they might cry alone at home,.

hmmm,,, in fact whole jackson family didn't look emotinal in the memorial <<< i was suprise
but in grammy ,, i guess becuze it was 6 months latter ,, so ...!! but they really looked sad (paris / prince )

i think it's mainly because they don't want the media to be attacking them even more. if they showed the slightest bit of emotion, the media would be all over them. i think deep down they really are torn up, but they just don't want to show it. plus, michael wouldn't want them to be sad all the time.
that's just my opinion

its hard to say i cant get in their shoes at all but i also cant critisize them.
I was furious with Prince though cause he was chewing gum at the memorial.
