How do I stop from getting depressed?
I work as an assistant for a really great co. and great boss. Only problem with the job is there are no challenges. Nothing to stimulate my brain. Im an assistant to the 2 top people in the co, but the problem is there are many days when they are so busy with their own work that I become like a fly on the wall. No communication/conversation from either of them for days on end. I have no other work to do other than what they give me to work on, on a daily basis. I know there are other people who would love to just sit around and surf the net and shop while they wait for their boss to find work for them to do to me it's the worst thing in the world to not have anything to work and it gets me very depressed to the point of wanting to seek out another job. It makes me feel like Im not very useful/essential to the co. Just wondering if someone else out there has ever gone through this? Before you suggest I go ask for more work its been done they tell me they will try to find more work but it never happens. I've been with the company 3 years.

Wow , at may age of 51 , that sounds like a dream job .
Well , if they don't care , what you do , you could use the time , to study for School , and better yourself .
If you are interesting at Writing , you could use the time to try to write a Novel .
It's not a good time , to look for new Work , few people have good jobs .
Writing about Characters and people , ( by doing a novel ) you can create Characters that seem real .
I have played with writing a few books , and the Characters you create , seem like real people .
This would also , make you not feel as lonely and disconnected from people .
One of the most important things we need as humans , is a purpose and to be Valued .
Also , to Connect with People .
So of course , you are depressed , because you don't feel valued , have no purpose , and are not Connecting with people .
So , give yourself a purpose , take a online Class or go to night School or write a book .
If they will not give you a purpose , create one for yourself .
You have time , to think , use that time to create a give birth to something , as in a direction for your life , or School or write a book .
Then , be sure you life outside of work , you have friends and family involvement .
This will fill the void , that work is not giving you .

i just daydream. pretend like nothing ever happened. but depression is a normal part of life. you cant always hide from it. face it, and tackle it down. dont let it alll get to you.
