Who gets the leftover catered food?

If I pay a caterer for 100 meals, and only 80 guests show up, who gets the extra 20 meals?

YOU do, but you'll probably need to ask for them.

Best arrange for any extra meals to be packed to go beforehand - many clients are so involved with their guests they forget!

I worked for a caterer at one point. They offer it first to the staff and then unfortunately they throw most of it away. This is actually one of the reasons I quit that job. The catering industry is incredibly wasteful.

You do if you want it. I ask the client. I've packaged the leftover uneaten food for customers before. If they say they don't have enough room in the fridge, then we (the staff) get it. Then it gets thrown out. Usually though, my staff and I will wipe out what they didn't eat. (Don't get me wrong, we don't actually eat off their plates, it's what's leftover in the chafing pans.)

    You do...you paid for it.
