What happens when you dentist sends a referrals to get braces?
So i am 16 years old and i have just been to the dentist for the first time. Don't ask me why i didn't go sooner because it is a long story.
I went there and he cleaned me teeth and he said that he is going to send a referral form to the NHS to get orthodontic treatment.
My teeth are pretty bad and i think i will end up with braces.
Soo... What happens next if i do get them?
Thanks for the help in advance!

those are questions that you go to an orthodontist for. the first appointment is completely free. they just check and ask if you want braces or not and they tell you estimation of time and everything
don't worry. i JUST got my braces and i'm turning 16 in 2 months. its really no big deal. actually its one of the best choices i've made lately.
it doesn't really hurt. even though they say it does (just as a tip, when you get it on. only eat soup and drink liquids only for a week and NEVER close your teeth together because you can get a stinging feeling but its not that bad!

You schedule an appointment with the orthodontist office. At your first visit they will take a panorex x-ray so they can see how all of your teeth are positioned below the gum line, see if any teeth still need to erupt & how they will erupt. They will also do molds to see how your occlusion( bite) is. They also look at your face and ask you to bite down, to see if you have a overbite, crossbite, etc... They will explain treatment options & costs. How long you will need to be in braces or if you need treatment before the braces ?

First off they do a consultation to give you an idea of what they wanna do and how long the treatment will be. They will also take xrays of your teeth. Depending on whats wrong with your teeth and what needs to be done first there are different treatments so it can vary.
If you get spacers before the actual braces to get the bands those i believe are the worst in my opinion.
You will do great.

you will go on the waiting list... which takes ages.. took me several years literally! but its possible depending on the necessity and that you are older that you will get there sooner and then you will go for a consultation and they wil just look at your teeth and see what they think needs doing, then you will have a records appointment and hten you will have an appointment to get your braces fitted, there might be large intervals between the appointments though
it is also possible that you might need something else and not just get braces immediately

When I went He gave me 2 options. 1) get 2 teeth taken out (maybe more. I got two taken out) or 2) go to a place that costs loads to get braces like 3000 pounds! If you get teeth taken out NHS give you braces for free.

It's normally just like the dentist. They sit you in the chair and take a look around and ask you a few questions like how bad you think your teeth are but that's normally about it on the first time.

I artwork contained in the dental industry as a prepare supervisor in Indianapolis yet have been an assistant who places the fillings for 12 years. i might recommend a 2d opinion. it rather is frequent for each the teeth to have that is very own filling and value. the previous answer pronounced to envision out a dental college. They do good artwork (checked continuously) and it takes extra time yet they frequently have their expenditures set at a pair of million/2 of the norm of dental places of work and a few furnish charge plans. you may continually get the artwork finished someplace else and go returned for the Invisalign.

When you recieve the referral form then call the orthodontist to book an appointment. You'll be assessed to see what treatment you need and then you go from there!
Good luck!

You will go to an orthodontist and they will make molds of your teeth then have you get x-rays. The x-ray things are cool! Then you might get braces you might not! Hope you find everything you need to know!
