upgrading from windows vista home premium to windows 7 professional?

My dad wants to upgrade his PC from windows vista home premium to 7 professional. He wants to avoid doing a clean install which I understand is required if your upgrade your series? So I was wondering if he could use my copy of windows 7 home premium to upgrade his computer then could he buy a copy of 7 professional and upgrade to that? Would that avoid having to do a clean install also would it be "legal" considering my copy (which is already installed on my computer) would by installed on his for a short amount of time?

I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit and it told me.......

"You can do an in-place upgrade to 32-bit

Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. If you

choose to upgrade to a different edition you

will need to perform a clean installation. Go

online to see detailed instructions about how

    to upgrade."

That is directly from the Microsoft Upgrade Advisor.

Everything else on my system passed with flying color
