Can heartworms cause a dog to vomit blood ?
ok so my dog vomited blood two days ago, her whole kennel was filled everywhere with blood, when i found her she was still spitting out blood, but like 30minutes later she was running and playing and jumping on me, wanting me to play with her, anyways, want to know, seeing as she hasn't been check for heart worms and she is a 24-7 outdoor dog, if heart worms can cause a dog to vomit blood, i know the two other options is an ulcer or cancer but wanted to know if heart worms cause that
didnt take her to the vet cause it was sunday, called all three vets in my city they were all closed and didnt leave a emergency number, the whole story is that last month she got bloated, talk to the vet said to put her on baby gerber food chicken flavor had her on that, but then she lost weight, so they said to put her on chicken and rice in water, so put her on that, about 3days ago, i started adding dog food to the chicken and rice, then this past sunday, she vomited blood, called the vets they were all closed, no call back number, or an emergency number, its now wesnday, and she is acting normal, playful self again, dont know what happened, called the vet, to make an appointment, they didnt have any open spots yet, so i have to wait, called the vet in the next city, but got tired of waiting for them to call me back, called them 3 different times to remind them that i needed to talk to there vet that makes house calls, but they never called me back
heart worm test down here are 50dollars, plus 50 for medicine, xrays are 100dollars,
and no she didnt get into any poison, there is no poison in the back yard only in the garage, and when the dogs are in the garage they are always monitored by me,
she is 5yrs old, a 60lb pitbull, and there have been no sick puppies in my yard that had parvo, and there are hardly any neighbors around that own dogs,
where do you live that heart worm test are only 20dollars, thats really cheap, down here the vet is extremely expensive and i never like him, he seems like the type of vet thats only in it to make money and to charge up the @ss
for your information, almost everyone who has him as a vet complains, cause he overprices everything, and the dog is better already, was just asking if heart worms can cause that, oh yeah, the animal shelters down here, put dogs to sleep, they dont have no kill shelters down here and i did find a no kill shelter down here, but they were trying to adopt dogs out that were covered in mainge so yeah, deep south texas sucks ***

Oh, is this your "I'm trying to make it look as if I care" scheme? Hmm, I'll just Google a cure for my dog's broken neck, I'll check Wikipedia to get a list of home remedies for cancerous tumors, I'll ask my friends on Myspace how I can reattach a severed limb at home, all with the luxury of my computer and internet access!
I highly suggest finding your nearest veterinary clinic or humane society and tying the dog up by the front door before open hours, then at least when the dog is discovered by staff she will either be treated for whatever obviously-fatal condition she has, or she will be humanely euthanized. This way you will not be burdened with the responsibility of a dog and having a veterinarian that you automatically think is just fiddling around to cash in despite the reality of medical costs, since it is such a painful ordeal.

Actually there are many things that could cause a dog to vomit blood such as parvo( which would make sense seeing she is an outside dog), something lodged in her stomach, or even parasites. But either way, it is something that has to be seen by a vet as any reason that a dog or person vomits blood warrants a trip to the vet or doctor. Bring her in immediately

YEA! But so can 100 other things for 100% outdoor dogs...like an intestinal blockage, toxin ingestion (rat poison or antifreeze), pancreatitis, An ulcer or cancer are 2 of many possibilities. . bottom line, vomiting blood = medical emergency. ER vet now!
a heartworm test is a 20 dollar blood test, take to to the vet for a diagnosis...

Ummmm, yeah. Vomiting blood is not something you check with Yahoo Answers about. Rather than playing "guess the malady" online, please get your dog to a vet immediately.
Also, why own a dog if it is outside 24/7 and you don't think to take it to the vet when it vomits blood? I mean, seriously... I hope you're trolling.

Wow, 50 WHOLE dollars for a HW test? Seriously??? Are you effing kidding me with this crap? When you decided to get a dog, you accepted the responsibilities that came along with it. That includes inconvenient vet bills. Get your big girl panties on and take the damn dog to the vet! No one here can cure your dog with magic online voodoo.
BTW, a HW blood panel is about $80 here so clam it with your expense sob story. Is your neglected 24/7 outdoor dog on HW preventative in the first place?

You take the dog to the vet immediately. When blood spews out of an orifice it is never normal. If you were in the same position you'd be in the hospital, not lolly-gagging about the house wondering if it was 'normal' or not.
