Is there a cheap, grain free dog food?

I rescued a very thin dog who is not doing well on our current dog food. I am looking for an economical grain-free dog food OR a rescue near Bristow, OK who can take in a wolfdog. So far, I've had NO luck.

And I have contacted wolfdog rescues, most are full or not even up and running anymore. Please help, this dog needs help!

And feel free to contact me if you can provide a good home for her.

Putting the word CHEAP in your question is sure to get you flamed. Cheap is usually POOR QUALITY.

If you want economincal way to feed him while you have him, find your local abbatoir (slaughter house) and get tongue, heart, liver, anything they will give you inexpensively. It should cost no more than 20 cents/pound that way. and you crock pot it and towards the end, add rice. When you turn off the pot, if there's still a lot of liquid, put in some oatmeal. Rice and oatmeal are good grains for dogs (unlike corn) and this is a simple way to feed the dog. You feed him about 1% of his body weight at each of 2 meals per day or 1% for breakfast, and kibble for supper. I feed homemade dogfood in the monrning only, so the other nutrients they get from the kibble I feed for supper.

I prefer Diamond Naturals. They have several with rice. The best foods are expensive.-!-

rice is in fact not a good grain for dogs. if an animal has a allergy to one type of gran, the likely hood of a reaction to other grains is very high. Animal food prices very by states, county, and store. the best way to find safe food, cheap food is to understand that grain free and cheap are often oxymoron's. find the lowest priced food with the ingredients that you know are safe. thats the cheapest grain free food available.

Here is a page full of cheap, grain free dog food: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_10?url=se...

These economical grain-free dog food is really high quality stuff as you can see from all of the great reviews. The prices aren't the cheapest you'll find if you compare it to poor quality dog food but for a wolfdog, you should stick with quality.

Taste of the Wild is one of the best brands which you will also find on that page. Many of the options you'll see on that page are under $50. The ones with fewer servings are even cheaper. Of course, no wants to purposely feed their dogs cheap dog food but people buy what they can afford and if these high quality grain free dog food is within your budget, then I highly buying one of these for your dog.

Taste of the Wild hands down will be the cheapest grain free food out there.

I use it and switched from DIAMOND NATURALS...Which is a Grain Inclusive food.

On diamond naturals I was feeding 12cups plus one full can of food a day to keep weight on my Great Dane, When I switched I was using only 6cups of the TOTW HP.

I pay $38 for 30lb bag..But the usual price is around $38-$42.99 ..sometimes more or less depending o your area.

I also seen smaller poop because I was feeding more, More consistent firm poop, he over all smelled better, looked healthier, more active, kept a steadier weight, his coat looks great as well! I know I'm missing something lol..

& There is nothing wrong with cheap & grain free food in the same sentence to the other poster, We all want a deal when we look for anything - Who WANTS to pay $70 per bag of wellness! No one does but we do it because we love our animals AND we CAN afford it. For those of us who can't, like my family Taste of the wild is the next best thing and it fits our Budget.

& Nedra E - It is not normally recommended that you feed RAW & Grain Inclusive Kibble...They digest at different rates & can be VERY upsetting for some dogs stomach so be careful for anyone following this advice. Not neccesarily bad advice of course, it has worked for you! But some it may not and need to know the facts.

Personally, I find getting old chichuahuas and smaller dogs from the local humane society a great source of grain free dog food.

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/axCYJ

Cheapest grain free I have seen is Natures Domain (sold at Costco). If your dog has food allergies, constant vet visits to treat the symptoms will cost your parents more than changing to a more expensive food.

I use Horizon Pulsar Grain Free. Here in Canada it is $50 a bag for a 25 lb bag.

They asked for "cheap" and/or inexpensive but half of you gave them nothing but a bunch of BS, lectures or bad advice!! Diamond Naturals Lamb and Rice is Wheat, soy & corn free but NOT Grain Free. Idiots! Blue Buffalo contains Alfalfa grass, which is not recommended to be used in pet food, its the wrong kind of protein, is not absorbed by your pet similarly to soy! It would be nice if you people would give the answer to the question rather then commenting on their use of the word "cheap", telling them to make their own or giving them names of food that are NOT what they asked for. Your answers were NOT helpful!
