Do you mean you're doing a dedication? Initiation is something a group does to you, and since you're seeking a guide I presume you're a solitary. Also, if you're seeking a guide, it sounds like you're really new. We strongly suggest at least a year of study before pledging yourself to the gods. Also, if you're not sure what you should be doing, that's the most obvious indication that you're not yet ready.

Kthxbye's answer is flippant, yet poignant. LOL

Basically, you can do whatever you please to initiate yourself into Wicca. There is no "authority" or "church" that will criticise you for not performing the ritual exactly right.

I am a hereditary witch. My mother was a witch; both my grandmothers were witches.

[I don't know further back than that, although my mother often mentioned her grandmother also practised the craft — though I never met her.]

None of my predecessors were "initiated".

That's something dreamt up by Aleister Crowley & Co.

[And — in my opinion — it was probably due to some "need" to emulate the Freemasons et al.]

So — if you want to do something special to mark the start of your journey down this path, by all means do so. Go skyclad — or not. Have candles and incense — or not. Recite the Wiccan Rede — or write your own "oath". No one is going to condemn you because you left something out or you put something different in. Just go with what's in your soul and what your heart tells you is the most appropriate thing to do.

    Enjoy the path.

It's a wonderful journey to be on.

A good place to start is to go to a local book store or online and do a search for Wiccan. In a book store they are normally found in the New Age section, and you can find tons of information.

If you not sure about what to do and how to do it, I think it may be a bit early for you to do an initiation. Usually one waits for a while before doing an initiation, and learns more about the religion first.

Try here, it may help you find a place to start.

I am not wiccan, but a true witch that follows the true old religion - hereditary in other words. I have studied Wicca, but if you have questions...I will try to help. Feel free to email me.

I know alot of wiccans read Scott Cunningham's books. He has one out for solitary practitioners...it may be a place to start.

If you have questions about the craft behind Witchcraft - feel free to email me. I'll help as I can.

    -Best of luck!

    Initiation is into a group.

Dedication (the more important rite) is done alone.

Well, go buy a bunch of books, candles, herbs, crystals, incense, altar cloth, sacred knife, flowing robes, and whatever else you can think to blow your money on, read the books, visit a bunch of websites, learn the gods and goddesses, do the rituals, learn the jargon, and stuff like that.

    Poof, you're Wiccan.

You got it wrong kid. It's a religion, not a secret members club.
