Windows 7 vs. Windows XP Question (Universal Plug & Play Support)?
Why doesn't Windows 7 have plug and play support? As for example on my xp machine i plugged in my microphone and web-cam and i can instantly use them without installing any software along with it but in Windows 7 i cant use the microphone and web-cam till Ive installed the software that came with them.
Yes they do recognize i realize that but i cant just go into my computer on Windows 7 like in Windows XP and double click usb video device to open my web-cam.

I have not experience with win7 but i hear it has some good support for various types of hardware. Well otherwise u will have to take the trouble of going to the vendor site and finding drivers for win7 for ur device. A bit of work~!!

windows 7 does have really good plug n play imo. Anything I have stuck in there (usb sticks, web cams, and such) all get recognised right away.
