Senior Citizens, do some of you remember the afternoon show called "Shindig"?
It was on the West Coast & much more fun than the eastcoast American Bandstand. Take a look & see if you remember. Then check Wikipedia for "Shindig" & see who was on there in its short life 1964 - 66. (check the dancing & then the credits near the end)

Yes I do remember it.
The series house band, the Shin-diggers (later renamed the Shindogs), featured a young Glen Campbell, Joey Cooper, Chuck Blackwell (drums), Billy Preston, James Burton, Delaney Bramlett, Larry Knechtel (on bass) and pianist Leon Russell.[

We just had a restaurant open, called Jimmy C's. It serves fish and chips, supposedly just like in the UK. I am in Colorado (USA) and we don't have any other fish places nearby. The fish is cod, and is deep fried with a crispy coating. The chips are a little larger than usual (for the US) and they are delicious. They are served with little packets of vinegar. I am almost sorry I found the place -- lol. I know it's not good for us, buy my husband and I get a craving and give in to it about every 3 months or so. I think we'll be having that this weekend (we usually splurge on Saturday nights). Now I'll be thinking about that for the rest of the week. Thank goodness it is Thursday so I don't have long to wait. P.S. The gentleman who owns Jimmy C's is from the UK and I'm pretty sure he's telling the truth. He has a heavy accent -- it is so much fun to hear him talk. Even some phrases he uses are not phrases used here in the US and he has to explain what he means. They also have a counter that has candy and other snacks -- all from the UK and that's fun. Some candies are here in the US but most are not and we have fun trying one each time we are there. Haven't found one yet that we didn't like......unfortunately!

I lived on the east coast when Shindig debuted in 1964, the year I graduated from high school. I loved that show & watched it all the time. So many great singers made guest appearances on the show. The ratings began to decline & the plug was pulled on Shindig in January of 1966. I began watching American Bandstand from the very beginning & liked it so much better than Shindig. I gave it a "10" because it was easy to dance to. lol

Yes and American Bandstand. We got Shindig in the Chicago area. I remember it as being on Saturdays only or just once a week. Wouldn't be the first time I remembered wrong, though.

Yes, I remember the show. I had two older teenage sisters so I was introduced to rock music and dancing at a young age.
went with my two older sisters to watch a live show of, "Where the Action Is."
Paul Revere and the Raiders played that day and it was being filmed in our small city of Simi Valley, Cal. in what was then a western theme tourist attraction there called, Hope Town. It was owned by Bob Hope.
It was a fun day, I felt like a teenage although I was about 10 at the time.

Yes. I never missed a show. I remember the Righteous Brothers were a staple. Watched Hullabaloo and Lloyd Thaxton too.
Edit: It was Where The Action Is with Paul Revere & Raiders

For some reason I remember it as a weekly show, don't know why. I do remember Hullabaloo, too, and Dick Clark had some show on every afternoon but I can't remember what it was called. He had Paul Revere and the Raiders on that show a great deal and also a terrible singer who's name I can't recall but he looked amazingly like Paul McCartney.

It was also available on the east coast and they has a road show that traveled throughout the country. I know because I won tickets to go see it. I couldn't yet drive so my wonderful 'with it' mother took me!

Yes, I remember Bobby Sherman and a blond go-go dancer named Carol Shelyne with the big round glasses.
