The Followers of GOD!!?

I DON"T get this, do you?

Everytime when people post questions i.e Do you believe in God? Does God really exist? What God do you believe in? and so on and so forth, right.

Poeple answer those type of question pertaining to God, right. So.....ALL of the people praising in A God clicks on the "thumbs down" instead of the "thumbs up". They all give other people, such as people who are Aetheists and Agnostics a negative thumbs down. This is unethical.

Let my place this in quotations, okay.

"God LOVES ALL" Right so it says in the bible for the upfinth time.

Ohh, God loves all, God hates all evil, God loves his sheep, God died for all of his people, blah blah blah blah.....!!!!!!!!!!!

If God loved all then why does his FOLLOWERS give negative feeback, Hate people, tell people to believe in Him. Didn't God give us FREEWILL, you bible freaks!

Doesn't God love ALL, so why do you hate your own kind thinking that you think that you're better than everybody else, like you on some high-a.s.s pedestal. Like you can brain-wash this whole community of people and make them believe in your God then soon after that when they SIN, you shun their a.s.s.

WHY!!?????

You people don't make any sense.

I'm an Agnostic and I seen, talked, heared, conversed with way more open-minded people than the people who are devotedly in a God-praising religion.

If you guys think that you guys are way better than people like me, than go ahead and do it; just leave your bible-preaching out of the community because you will not get 100% feed back just the way you want it like McDonalds.

God is a contradictory, debatable, argumentable, never-ending fiction that could never be proved. The only proof is the bible and it's original translations though, it was written by people anyways. So what, now. God talks to people? NOOOO, that's people subconscious and unconscious state, gut feeling, everyone has that.

It's so weird how people hear their subconscious state, SMILE and look up into the sky and say "I hear his voice, he spoke to me". NO he didn't, that's just yourself. Then you go preach to people saying I KNOW the way, follow me. Wait a minute isn't that how Stalin got his people to follow him by saying "I know the way" just like Obama "Yes, we can" Oh, wait a minute, what about Stalin "This is the way" and there is more, The Pope. All he has to do is stand up and wear a damn cross and stand near the Vadican.

haha, wow what a coincidence!!!!

Please explain that?!!!!

Update:

I just had this on my mind. No, I'm not angry nor mad; what I really wanted was peoples feedbacks on such a topic. Though, it sounds like I'm conveying hypocrasy, I'm not; sorry for the misunderstanding. I don't dislike people beliefs, I'm just wondering why. I question everything.

Update 2:

Hey Pagal, I'm sorry for this but, I have to say it. I'm not going to fight over the internet, just further explanation.

You say that I don't respect other peoples beliefs but as it states in the 7th paragraph: "If you guys think that you guys are way better than people like me, than go ahead and do it; just leave your bible-preaching out of the community because you will not get 100% feed back just the way you want it like McDonalds."

I'm not hating or conveying any type of belief system on any singular person nor religion.

I appreciate others beliefs, just not stupid ignorant ones.

You say "stop your stupid ranting because no one will get anywhere and that you're a happy person who 'respects' others beliefs."

You CONTRADICT yourself because you're not appreciating my beliefs.

Now, I told you this is debatable and never ending, so again please explain yourself.

Thank you =]

wow you think too much ...

I advise you to leave people to their own beliefs...

what your doing is the equivalent of a religious person trying to convert people. You are trying to force your beliefs on others.

If people are happy, safe and content with their beliefs i see nothing wrong with them. What I HATE is people purposely trying to force their belief on to others !

So please stop your stupid ranting because no one will get anywhere !

Source(s): a happy person who respects other peoples beliefs !

Personally I don't think God, as an entity, exists in a way that can be seen, heard, touched, smelled etc. I'm all for the Big Bang Theory, and solid fact.

I do believe that God exists in the form of a social and cultural conscience. Hence why you get different beliefs and rituals for different gods in different parts of the world - and they all reflect how people live and learn on a daily basis.

People just don't seem to think about what they're doing and how things connect up in that sense - so I just think that they use their religion as a shield from certain things in the world. They hide behind it and wave away things that have valid points, and use their own morals to adjust religious morals to their own benefit. "Jesus loves you, so I don't have to" - being one example.

It always made me wonder why religion and culture were separated into two groups in school, since they are (in my view) the same thing. Except the first is simply mental, the latter is physical as well.

I don't believe in God in either sense, though I acknowledge the existence of a social and cultural conscience - I follow my own set of beliefs and morals and not those written by long gone preachers. After all, I make my choices; nobody else; so why should somebody/something else have dominance over my lifestyle?

Now, you're experiencing what I'd call 'lack of faith'.

No, actually, I'd call it intelligence and questioning.

Honestly, I don't get it either. My mother is Christian, and I've experienced almost everything you mentioned here. Isn't the 'He spoke to me' The most annoying thing in the world? I'm agnostic also, so until someone finds proof either way, I'm not believing it. Honestly, I love debating religion as long as people are willing to listen. God is one of those annoying beliefs that will never, ever go away. Ever. The negative feedback for questioning? Damn, I wish I could explain that. Really, I adore questioning of all sorts. Perhaps next time you post a question, maybe you could use less... Capitalizing, adding extra letters, and major abuse of question marks? Just a tip to make you look less juvenile. Anyway, if you want to know a bit more generally, I have a friend who's blog may interest you, I'll stick it in the 'source' box.

First of all, I am an atheist and I have done a lot of work on such topics. I have encountered many people, both religious and not, and learned their point of view without ridicule.

I must bring to your attention the fact that the tone in which you write will only gain angry responses or idiotic responses. If you intend to force your opinion on others in such an obnoxious way, at the very least make yourself sound credible. Don't make spelling mistakes and speak in broken language. I think you will find that there are some religious people who are quite happy to keep their beliefs to themselves, just as you should. However, as you say, there are some who are not. Your approach to discourage them will not be a very successful one. When confronted with anger and ridicule, humans do not back down - they fight back. Watch out.

Think before you click submit and you might survive.

I think you are referring to the zealots you saw, not the christians who are for real. God loves all, but people tend to hate. While he does not like people to hate, he cannot force people to love. What would that accomplish? Nothing meaningful, that is for sure. That is why there is free will.

As for subconsciousness and God not speaking to us you forget that there are many, many ways to communicate. More than you think. Not just words, but also actions, other people, and even more. God uses many methods to communicate. He is talking to all of us, not literally, but by everything around us, even you and me.

As for the preaching and praising, you are preaching right now, being a hypocrite. Hypocrisy hurts the cause more than helps. You need to work on avoiding hypocrisy if you plan on convincing anyone of anything.

  • i think some people are just intolerant of different perspectives. i mean, i'm not religious or anything, but i can look at the medieval discussions of God and really appreciate them. this is because they have some logical validity. but where people are just throwing their opinions around, i understand that people could potentially become aggravated. and some of those lacking in faith cannot appreciate the fact that some people have it and can possibly gain meaning from it. yeah, people are just uptight and they always think their opinion is the most important one - as do we all :p

I think nearly all of this can be explained because of social pressures. People fit into a group, and they want to please that group. They tend to read books that agree with their position.

Most people do not like to read things that conflict with their preconceived notions of the world, so that's why you get the thumbs down.

I don't think this is confined merely to the religious, but exists in dogmatism in all stripes. Everyone has to be careful to be critical of their own ideas and try to think honestly about an opponent's position.

Well, I happen to love God very much and believe in Him/Her/It very strongly. I post answers and questions both in the Philosophy and R&S Sections quite frequently in fact. I am a free thinker, and actually, a Spiritualist rather than a Religionist...in other words, I do not attribute my beliefs to any one particular religion and philosophy...but instead, I take from all of it, what I FEEL is right and truthful - because all religions and philosophies have elements of Truth in them.

I believe that all of you, YOU included, are a Son or Daughter of God. Even if you do not believe in or are unsure of God, I believe in all of YOU. So long as there is one of us that believes in everyone else, no one is lost - not really. You are my Brother, please understand that. I do understand that agnostics are people who are uncertain about the existence of God. I can sympathize with that. I understand your uncertainty and why. I also understand what is happening with atheists. Neither atheism or agnosticism bothers me. The reason why is because no one can ULTIMATELY, run away from and hide from God. God is everywhere, in all of us, including yourself, all the time. God is INEVITABLE and UNAVOIDABLE. And so, God also undersands this. God is, as you might say, impersonal about it. You do, have a right, a free will right, to choose, elect and decide. God knows you can never go too far away and will eventually come back of your own free will. So God remains impersonal about the issue. Think about it this way, if you have a child and you put that child out into your back yard which is fenced in and no way for the child to escape, you can be reasonably assured that the child is safe and unharmed. You know your child is out there, but cannot be hurt and cannot wander off and be "lost." This is how God views your uncertainty. It is ok to be uncertain. For uncertain leads to questions and thoughts and challenges - and God is prepared to meet those questions and thoughts and challenges in your experience in life. God meets you everywhere, is what I am saying to you - all it takes, is one moment at a time, to stop and think about what life means to you - what does your experience tell you? What does it say to you? Sooner or later, God will get God's point across to you and you will have an epiphany and then you will know and no one will have to prove anything to you. You will have your proof.

The problem as I see it, all comes down to personal expectations. We fall upon our own expectations like falling upon a sword. These expectations are what delude us and blind us, keeping us from seeing God and hearing God. For if you are expecting God to be something in particular and God is NOT being that, do you see God? If you expect God to say something to you in particular, but God is not saying that, then are you hearing God? God is BEING who God IS BEING and if you do not choose to hear or see that, then you are blind...groping through life looking right at God and not seeing God, not even hearing God if God is speaking to you. You have to open your MIND to what is happening, open up the possibilities and take a chance that God may just be something or saying something you had not allowed into your mind before.

Now, for the matter of thumbs up and down. That is strictly a matter of choice. It's just a fact of life here on Y/A. You can't dictate how people are going to react to you or anyone else. You cannot avoid bigotry or criticism here any more than you can avoid it everywhere else in life. So all you can do is deal with it. That's all I can do here either. Deal with it.

I hope this helps a bit. - PS, I sometimes give a thumbs up to agnostics and atheists, when I believe they have said something valuable.

Thumbs upping or downing a comment is not "unethical." It's an opinion you disagree with. That's what they're for. I thumbs down the God-botherers all the time.

I sympathize with your frustration with theists.
