What else could smell like gasoline besides gasoline?

There is a smell of gasoline in my house, getting stronger every day it seems. I can't find the source, it makes no sense. It is not a natural gas smell, besides we don't have natural gas here. We are not on a sewer system, but a private septic system that is working fine. I was wondering what other chemicals besides gasoline might give off that same smell.

Update:

It can't be natural gas, there are NO natural gas lines in my area. Petrol is the same as gasoline, two different names.

I am not so much afraid of an explosion, just wondering what the source could be. I've looked everywhere, trying to see if there were clothes or rags with gasoline on them laying around anywhere. Just wondering if it could be another chemical, like something leaking from the fridge, or something like that.
