Is it possible to convert a gas grill to use natural gas?
I received a Weber Grill as a gift. It uses a tank of gas for fuel that has to be refilled periodically. Is it possible to convert this grill so that a plumber could connect it straight to my natural gas line?
If so, do you know where I could buy a kit to do this?

yes its possible, i would recommend a pro to do this though. this conversion is not for the average homebuddy.an improperly converted gas appliance can be dangerous and work improperly. as far as conversion kits, the lp regulator must either be converted or replaced with a natural gas one, the orifices can be replaced or specifically drilled to the right size for natural gas. as far as the connection, well a plumber can tap into any existing gas line suitable. best luck

When buying the grill you will want to see how the propane hose connects to the grill. Many cheap grills are press fit on and cannot be removed. Better ones are connected with a flare nut and can be unscrewed. If you getting a side burner look for a grill with one gas connection, some use a Y in the gas hose to connect to each which will make a natural gas connection a little more complicated. Please NEVER cut and splice gas hoses and have a pro do the conversion or at lease check the install before turning the gas back on

Yea...I'm not too big of a pro on gas but the house I live in is new (well newer LOL) and there is already a gas line out back just for a grill. Propane and natural gas are both just a flammable gas I think the only difference is the oxygen/gas (percentage in the air) ratio it takes to burn, I'd would make sure the plumber knew about gas too and not just water...

joea gave you a good answer. Yes, the grill can be converted to natural gas by either changing the gas orifices or having them drilled out to the proper size.
You might check with a local propane company (the guys who home deliver in the big trucks) about the conversion. Depending on where you live, the natural gas company in your are should be able to provide help or at least refer you to someone who can help.

The answer is yes …kits {per se} are available at Home Depot & Lowe’s
With that said…….. I would agree with “joea” ….if you don’t know what you are doing, let a professional handle the job……

Yes. Call someone who installs water tanks and have them run a flexible line to a connector outside. It will cost pennies to cook on the grill and no tank to worry about. Check with a hardware store for connectors if you want to do it yourself.
