If you did an upgrade over a clean install that would probably explain it. For whatever reason upgrades act weird a lot of the time.
If not, you could install to an SSD and that would make a HUGE difference.
Also post your computer specs, if it's under powered that would explain a lot too.

Windows 7 is very fast.
Don't go back to Vista, lmao.
Make sure your desktop is clean.
Go through your programs and get rid of toolbars and ineffective antiviral/registry cleaners.
Get Spybot from
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index....
Run it. Delete what it finds.
Get AVG or similar.
Run it. Delete what it finds.
Then defrag if you wanna.

Simple man,
You need hardware upgrade.
Win7 + Intel i7 + SSD = 50 sec of boot time.
or better yet two SSD in raid 0.

My dad works at micron and help develop solid state drives....in a way they are still new but they sell them. expect to pay $150-780 dollers tho :O so a SSD is a crappy idea

First, make sure your computer is not set to "delete pagefile at shutdown" because that in itself will add several minutes to your shutdown time.

If you go back to Vista, you're stupid. Your pc may not even meet the requirements for hardware. On top of that, you probably have spyware/malware/viruses.
