Creda Europa oven 43945 "cap start" motor mechanism?

Recently, the electrics would trip out every time my mother-in-law's Creda Europa oven (model 43945) heated up.

She had an electrician in to look at it who said that the "cap start" motor had gone. I'm no electrical expert but have trawled a lot of websites looking for a replacement cap start motor but to no avail. However there are a lot of websites that enable you to purchase a new fan motor eg http://www.4creda.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=535...

Is this the same as the cap start motor? If not, any ideas?

Update:

So to clarify, does this oven only have one motor?

there is no such thing as a cap start motor of this size it is a shaded pole motor no offence to electrician if you do not know you do not know ,and yes this is correct motor if you want to change direction of rotation carefully remove brass shorting loop and fit to other end of lamination's but sometimes it is preset at factory you will know if direction is correct as you feel the draught ( edit yes one motor only

While I agree with Now and then about the motor, you say that the electrics trip when the oven heats up, this would point to a faulty element(s) usually only one in a fan oven. You will also have only one motor

A visual check of the element may prove the fault without the need to carry out the tests below.

when cold, open the oven and remove all shelves and racks, remove the rear cover inside the oven.

Take a good look at the element, it should be smooth all around, use your fingers to check behind the element but be careful, if the element has split there could be sharp edges.

If no splits are found leave the shelves etc out and turn on the oven, as the element heats up you will see it getting red (hot) if you see any bright spots on the element then there is your fault

    To prove this,

IF YOU ARE COMPETENT WITH ELECTRICS (no offence)

    1. SWITCH off cooker at the mains

    2. remove back cover and locate oven element and fan connections

    3. disconnect the element wires only and make sure they are not touching anything

    4. switch Cooker on at the mains

    5. turn on oven

the fan should start to spin, if so let it run for several minutes to see if it trips the electrics. If it doe's not trip, SWITCH off oven and the mains then reconnect the element wires.

    6. disconnect the fan wires

    7. Switch on the mains

    8. Switch on the oven

The elements should start to heat up, again leave for a while to see if it trips the electrics

If neither of these tests trip the electrics you may want to try disconnecting the oven light if fitted

It is not impossible, but unlikely that the oven thermostat is at fault.

    Hope this helps

    Good luck
