  • Trying to find name of U.K. TV drama?

Hi! I’m trying to find the name of a U.K. drama that was on about 5 or so years ago.

The most memorable scene from the drama was when someone was hiding in the boot of a BMW car, in the void between the back seat and the boot, and then shoots one of the passengers when they get in the seat. This happens near a quarry

The other thing I remember is that the husband was in prison and his wife was on the outside and there was money laundering involved.

Oh and the son of the guy in prison has a relationship with an Indian / Muslim girl.

That’s all I can remember. Odd things I know!

    Any ideas?

  • Unusual email problem?

Hi, I have a problem which I'm hoping someone can explain and/or resolve.

I access my email using the O2 snot server, smtp.o2.co.uk which works fine on my iPad and iPhone in the UK. I'm on holiday in the US and it doesn't work to send email when using the free wifi at the house I've rented but does work if I use other wifi such as McDonalds or indeed the 3G network.

Is the wifi connection I'm on somehow blocking my connection to the server? I can browse the net ok and receive mail with no problem, it's just sending it that fails.

Would be interested to learn why this might be happening and any advice would be welcomed!

  • Excel - Conditional formatting based on date?

Hi.. I'm trying to set up conditional formatting of cells within Excel based on the following rule...

If the date value entered is greater than 1 month from today's date then it is to show red, greater than 2 weeks but less than 1 month yellow and less than 2 weeks green.

I've been playing around with the rules but can't seem to get it to work?

Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated!

  • Bush 1448 SIL TV - manually switching to AV?

Hi, I'm having to temporarily use this TV for a PS3 (via Scart connection) but I can't find any way of manually switching to AV mode. I can manually scroll through the channels but not to AV (to run off the scart) unfortunately I don't have the remote available.

    Any thoughts?

  • Advisory item on MOT certificate, worth getting looked at?

I recently put my 1995 Peugeot 405 in for the MOT and on the advsiory notice there is an item that states "Front coil springs starting to corrode" I have to confess that I'm not mechanically minded so not sure what it's trying to tell me in simple terms. What do the coil springs do?

Given the age of the car, and that I'll probably replace it within a couple of years, is it worth the money to get it fixed or should I leave it?

  • My SIM card is blocked, what happens to inbound SMS messages?

I recently misplaced my mobile phone, so I asked my provider (O2 UK) to put a temporary block on the SIM card to prevent any unauthorised use whilst I was waiting for it to be sent back to me.

If I try and ring my phone, I get an unobtainable tone (presumably because the SIM is blocked) but I'm interested to know what will happen to any SMS messages that are sent to me. Will they be held at the SMS Centre until I reactivate the SIM or will they simply be rejected and therefore lost?

  • Blocking comments on Facebook fan page?

I look after a number of Facebook fan pages which are posted on regularly, however I want to be able to stop the "fans" posting comments on the posts which are made. How do I do this as I can't seem to be able to find a way to do it?

  • French Motoring law - Spare Bulbs?

Hi, I understand that one of the laws for driving in France is that you must carry a spare set of bulbs.

My friends car is a Nissan Note and the bulbs cannot be changed without taking the car into a dealership, therefore making the carrying of spare bulbs a pointless task.

Can anyone clarify what the legal position is here?

  • Am I taking a huge risk by buying a Volvo C70 for 2k with 200,000 miles on the clock?

I've purchased on Ebay a 2003 Volvo C70 Auto convertible which has 208,000 miles on the clock. The winning price was £2,000.

For a car with this sort of mileage (although it is a Volvo) am I paying way over the odds and am I taking a huge risk or should I be ok for a couple of years? According to the Ebay details, everything seems to be ok..

  • 'phone networks "crashing" on NYE?

Every year people send me texts hours before midnight because, they say, the mobile networks will crash because they can't handle the volume of messages. I believe this to be an urban myth and that the networks don't crash at all - am I right?

  • Battery problem on Peugeot 405?

Hi - I was driving to a friends house today, running very low on fuel (but didn't run out). All of a sudden the battery warning light came on, albeit quite dim, when I was driving - the engine didn't cut out. Made it to the petrol station and refilled, restarted car and battery warning light refused to go out.

Drove to my friends house and parked up - came out a few hours later and battery now completely flat and won't start. Any ideas what could have caused this, would the very low fuel level earlier have anything to do with it or is that pure coincidence?

  • Sunroof no longer opens on Land Rover Discovery 1?

Hi - About 4 months ago, the front sunroof on my Land Rover Discovery 1 (R reg) stopped working for no apparent reason. I've checked the fuse and it seems ok, however when I press the button nothing happens at all although I can hear (I think) the relay clicking trying to open it. Any ideas?

  • How does Broadband work when BT is sole supplier?

We are moving to a small village where BT wholesale seem to be the sole supplier of Broadband services however it seems that I can still use another ISP for my service.

How does this work? Does the ISP put it's own equipment in the exchange or do they simply use the BT line and equipment? I so, does this mean I will have a BT IP address or one allocated by my ISP still?

  • Need to pay a large sum of money by Amex but company doesn't accept it?

I would like to pay a large Solicitors bill (£10k) by my BA American Express card so I can earn loads of extra miles. However whilst they accept cards, they don't take Amex. Is there any easy (and not too expensive) way I can transfer the money from my Amex card into my current account so I can then pay the bill that way?

I was thinking of getting my wife to set up a dummy ebay auction with a buy it now price of £10k then paying for it by PayPal using my Amex and then transfer it out of Paypal to the Bank account. Would this work?

Any other advice much appreciated, I can assure you I am not attempting to launder money - I simply want to get the extra miles!

Hi - The cruise control has suddenly stopped working on my LandRover Discovery 1 (R Reg). The garage has checked the vacum system and everything checks out so any ideas? The button lights up but nothing happens.

  • Creda Europa oven 43945 "cap start" motor mechanism?

Recently, the electrics would trip out every time my mother-in-law's Creda Europa oven (model 43945) heated up.

She had an electrician in to look at it who said that the "cap start" motor had gone. I'm no electrical expert but have trawled a lot of websites looking for a replacement cap start motor but to no avail. However there are a lot of websites that enable you to purchase a new fan motor eg http://www.4creda.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=535...

Is this the same as the cap start motor? If not, any ideas?

  • Trying to find a dialing code range in the UK?

Hi - bit of a geeky question but having spent a couple of hours searching on Google with no luck I thought I would try here. I'm moving to a new village in the near future and whilst I know what the STD code is, I want to know what number range the village falls in within the code. Eg where I live now is 01730 2xx xxx and where I am moving to is still 01730 but I want to know what the next 2 digits are likely to be
