BT Internet newsgroup servers no longer available?

Trying to access usenet groups via my ISP's newsgroup server (news.btinternet.com) and I'm unable to connect and a ping is returning no response. Any ideas?

    There's something wrong with BT servers at the moment. Took forever to connect to the internet. But give it time. I'm sure it'll get fixed.

    high courts have banned most newsgroups on the bt servers things like newzbin and others have been blocked by bt because of a court order
