Need to pay a large sum of money by Amex but company doesn't accept it?
I would like to pay a large Solicitors bill (£10k) by my BA American Express card so I can earn loads of extra miles. However whilst they accept cards, they don't take Amex. Is there any easy (and not too expensive) way I can transfer the money from my Amex card into my current account so I can then pay the bill that way?
I was thinking of getting my wife to set up a dummy ebay auction with a buy it now price of £10k then paying for it by PayPal using my Amex and then transfer it out of Paypal to the Bank account. Would this work?
Any other advice much appreciated, I can assure you I am not attempting to launder money - I simply want to get the extra miles!

Your ebay idea would cost £355.20 in ebay motors (not ebay) & paypal fees - are the miles worth more than that?

Call the BBB this guy is playing games with your money . this is now JUNE . Are you sure he is still in business . I would go and see what is going on . He has to have a last known address and that is right where i would go when he is haveing dinner with his family and knock on the door What he did was take your money and pay for the materials . On the others "work " he had to do or just straight up is blowing you off I say go to his place of business with a letter of demand to repay the monies he owes . I don't know your financial situation but i think you should get a lawyer on this case and recover your money . I would also tell EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE not to use this guys services . you could also put a little add in the local paper ,an open letter of sorts, to ask the contractor where is the money since he has been so hard to contact.

Use your Amex to buy prepaid cards that they may accept, you might have to buy many of them because some of them have a limit. That way you could use those credit cards. If you use eBay and Paypal remember hey charged a fee for credit cards.

Short answer, no. The solicitor does not accept credit cards because there is a cost to them. Transferring money from your card to a bank account is a very expensive loan, at over 20% p.a. and with a fee of at least 3%.
