Land Rover Discovery cruise control not working?

Hi - The cruise control has suddenly stopped working on my LandRover Discovery 1 (R Reg). The garage has checked the vacum system and everything checks out so any ideas? The button lights up but nothing happens.

Unfortunately I'm not mechanically minded in any way so be gentle!

    Sensor problem, check with a skilled technician.
