Where should we go for 4-5 days that's quiet?

My husband and I will be celebrating our 15th anniversary in July and want to get away without the kids.

Update:

We do not plan to leave the country and I am looking for specific places. We prefer the beach.

    3 suggestions come to mind.

Gatlinburg Tennesee, It is a swcluded little resort town in the smoky mountains. There are lots of quaint, quiet, and romantic hotels all around town. The town itself has a lot to do in the way of siteseeing, dining, and attractions. July is a good time of year to go, but it will be a tad bit warm.

Ocean City Maryland, one of the best kept secrets in America. The beaches are pristine, there are plenty of nice romatic rooms and hotels to be had, the boardwalk is a great place to have an evening stroll. There is a nice dining atmosphere, the weather is almost always agreeable, tons of stuff to do if you want to.

San Antonio Texas. The city oozes with romance. From a nighttime stroll down the riverwalk. A romantic dinner at any number of great restraunts, you can even have dinner on a barge at the river walk as it sails and shows you the sites. You can have dinner in the Tower of The Americas, 300 feet up inside a rotating restraunt at night overlooking downtown. Lots of romantic hotels, eateries, and things to do.

Fly to California, rent a car, and drive the central coast. It is absolutely beautiful. Go to Big Sur and rent a cabin and go on day hikes at the state/national parks in the area.

My boyfriend and I drove to CA all the way from MI, and driving the Pacific Coast Highway in Central California was the best part. Big Sur was so peaceful and seemed untouched besides by the artsy and semi-secluded local community.

We also stayed in wine country (Napa and Sonoma) for a few days and that was nice as well but there were more people around.

Well that depends on your interests. But my husband and I enjoy the coast of Maine. Most of the beaches are rocky but lightly populated especially the farther north you go. But don't expect to take a dip, the water will be COLD! We enjoy listening to the waves crash on the shores and we also collect sea glass (broken pieces of glass that has been smoothed by the water). Also Maine has it share of microbrews if that is your style also.

Your not being very clear , you should tell us if your thinking of celebrating IN america , or outside the country ?

well , these are a bunch of exciting places to enjoy outside the US:

    Bay of Fundy (Canada)

    http://www.fulldhamaal.com/wp-content/uploads/2009...

The Bay of Fundy is renown for having the highest tides on the planet (16.2 metres or 53 feet). One hundred billion tonnes of sea water flows in and out of the Bay of Fundy twice daily – more water than the combined flow of all the world’s fresh water rivers. Fundy’s extreme tides create a dynamic and diverse marine ecosystem.

The Bay is renown for its coastal rock formations, extreme tidal effects (vertical, horizontal, rapids and bores) and sustainable coastal development. It is also a critical international feeding ground for migratory birds, a vibrant habitat for rare and endangered Right whales, one of the world’s most significant plant and animal fossil discovery regions.

The Bay of Fundy is located between the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on North America’s east coast.

theres also another very beutiful place : Cliffs of Moher (Ireland)

    http://www.fulldhamaal.com/wp-content/uploads/2009...

Located in county Clare, the Cliffs of Moher are amongst the most impressive places to see in Ireland. The cliffs consist mainly of beds of Namurian shale and sandstone, with the oldest rocks being found at the bottom of the cliffs. One can see 300 million year old river channels cutting through the base of the cliffs. There are many beautiful birds living on the cliffs

if your the type who loves seaview , this is the type for you : Halong Bay (Vietnam)

    http://www.fulldhamaal.com/wp-content/uploads/2009...

Halong Bay is located in Quáng Ninh province, Vietnam. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes. The bay has a 120 kilometre long coastline and is approximately 1,553 square kilometres in size with 1969 islets.

Several of the islands are hollow, with enormous caves, other support floating villages of fishermen, who ply the shallow waters for 200 species of fish and 450 different kinds of mollusks.

    Hope I Helped :)

I would suggest maybe an island off of the coast of a warm state if that is what you are looking for. (: But it all depends on your price range and if you want a tropical location or a non tropical location. (:
