Why do people not want to receive email from askers?

I recently received a best answer with a second question attached and no way to return the answer as the asker doesn't allow email.I under stand what a pain receiving unwanted emails can be but if you want or need further explanation you have to allow emails.

Update:

I don't mean general questions on Q&A just when you are asked to further explane your answer

    This is true, but like all communication mediums it is open to abuse by the idiots that are on the system and when they have your e mail address it willl never end

    I have my mail open, and I help people out if they ask, even tho it means I dont get any points. Im here to help, not to gain the highest level....

    I think that people are just idiots, basically :D

    I tried to leave my email open but it was just abused too often.
