Both religion and Science are at there heart the pursuit of understanding ourselves and the universe we occupy.

True theologians will always remain open to scientific evidence, and true scientists will always be open to possibilities of the unknown.

Both however are plagued with mindless sheep who do not seek to learn anything. they accept the cheap and easy answers without question or personal pursuit, whether its in the form of accepting obviously illogical religions and giving away money or giving away money for a new drug on the market later proved to kill more people then it helps.

These people have a strong need to justify there position and unable or uneducated sufficiently to articulate there position they seek only to pull down and bully all who disagree.

Logically if there is a grand creator that knows what he's doing, and we evolve, which is something we do see and now begin to understand, then we must have been made to evolve.

Any nay sayers on either side would do well to remember more can be achieved by honest study and objective reasoning then trying to tear down all who disagree.

"Is it possible we were created to evolve?"

Possible? Sure. Likely? No. There is no evidence to support the hypothesis that we were "created".

"I sit possible that deep down science and religion are the same thing?"

No. Science is a method for separating false claims from claims that are consistent with observed reality. In science, when the evidence shows an explanation is false, it must be discarded in favor of a better one. A religion is a system of belief and worship based on assertions of truth that may or may not be consistent with reality. In religion, when the evidence shows an explanation to be false, the evidence must be ignored.

  • It's possible, but not probable.. Science and religion are the same thing in a broad sense, both try to explain the unexplainable, however science draws it's explanations from tangible sources, religion draws it's explanations from intangible mysticism. We know life evolves, science has collected tangible evidence to support this, we do not know how or if life was created by a divine being because religion can provide no tangible evidence to support this. All the evidence science has collected seems to point to random emergence rather than a designed creation. From simple observance of Nature one cannot help but conclude that things are not created, they arise due to favorable conditions, where there is empty space life strives to fill it that is the way of Nature, its all about the balance of energy.

There is another creation myth: that spirit could move freely in and out of the material but became so enamored with the physical that we stayed and the only way out was for the flesh to age and die. A different explanation for 'original sin', So, yes not only is the physical evolving but the spiritual as well.

I would like to dismiss it all sometimes, but the idea of consciousness being aware of itself precludes that. I am sure with time science and religion will merge but not in the way any of us can conceive. Evolution is measured in millenniums. Best wishes.

Well, I'd say science and spirituality are 'engaged to be married.' Nothing in science contradicts spirit, it gives us a peek into creation, which is the evidence for a Creator. Nothing in spirit will contradict science, but it does hover far above the disecting lens of science, and fuels the pursuit of discovery. Science appeals to our rational, analytical, objective nature, while spirit appeals to our intuitive, holistic, subjective nature. This is a world of duality, and when we use both sides of our brain together (instead of favoring one over the other) we are evolving, and the 'wedding date' will be set!

It is true that over time science and religion have been merging. In the days of Galileo there was a sharp division that has very definitely mellowed out in time. This is largely due to the church's concession with facts staring them in the face and laws that keep them from justifying murder. When science entered the quantum world of physics, they inadvertently rattled the iron bars religion has constructed around its believers to protect them from the "devil". Those bars are formed of various dogmas that are beginning to look very foolish in light of new findings both by the scientific community and comparative theology. Possession by the devil is being replaced with knowledge of the inner workings of the brain and what one must do to free themselves from negative neural networks. Combine that with the theological findings about the main mission of Jesus to bring down the false god of the Jews, Jehovah, and the origins of the term Lucifer, and the Catholic Church is losing its hold. No devil.... no need for a pope.

There is an ancient science that will, when it is brought forward, most likely give total credence to your musings.

Of course they are very close although you won't find many who would admit that. Science is man's limited understanding of God and all there is without acknowledging God.. Religion is the understanding and acceptance of God. Not all religions follow God btw. But you knew that already.,

There is no objective evidence that we were created and religion and science cannot be the same thing.

    Possible? Sure.

Plausible? Nope. See, there's no evidence of any kind to show we were "created" at all, and certainly none to show any "god" had anything to do with it.

However, the evidence that we did evolve (and are still doing so) is overwhelming.

    Peace.

It is absolutely possible. What happens when you plant a seed?

    Excellent Question BTW
