Are Republicans truly against more government spending, or do they simply want to cut certain programs.....?

and allocate that money elsewhere? This was done under Reagan, Bush I and Bush II. So are they for really cutting spending, or do they simply want to take money out of one pocket to spend it in the other?

Libertarians seem to want to truly cut spending, balance the budget, and start to pay down the debt, while Republicans always talk a good game about lowering spending, yet they never do. They simply seem to want to cut domestic public spending and allocate those resources in other areas, such as bailouts for big banks and foreign wars.

In a nut shell, the repubs are against tax increases for the wealthy, social service programs, money for public education, student loans and health care for sick and disabled children. They are pro- war, pro- military and pro- guns. They wanted bank de- regulation and got it under Bush and looked what happened. Then they wanted bail outs and under Bush they got it. They wanted war and under Bush they got it but in the wrong country.

Where were the Birthers and Baggers when Bush was ruining our country? Perhaps they were all working for Haliburton.

a good start up could be for the democrats interior the white abode, the abode and the senate to strengthen a backbone! And somebody tell that fool barry that he can carry conferences till hell freezes over because of the fact republicans will in no way vote with democrats. Has all people ever observed that each and all the tea party individuals are merely approximately consistently previous indignant white human beings and commonly do no longer look like they have missed any food? BTW, why weren't the republicans questioning this way whilst their boy bush replaced into spending funds like he had a tree growing to be in his outdoor?

You're argument is spot on, the Republicans are barely different than the Democrats, in only that they raise the deficit more slowly. The biggest problem we face is the two party system. I voted Libertarian in 2008, and probably will again in 2012 barring some unforeseen enlightening of the entire Republicrat party. Will they win? Doubtful, but I'll sleep better voting my conscience than with the sheep.

Some republicans who call themselves conservatives do truly oppose spending, which includes their support for ending the wars - which are clearly a massive waste of trillions of dollars and millions of lives.

The republicans who promote war, clearly only support spending cuts in some rather minor areas, since ultimately our military empire costs around a thousand billion dollars a year.

Republicans who are truly conservative, want to end the wars, cut back the empire, end the welfare and warfare, stop the spending, and engage in true free trade. The others who promote war are often protectionists who believe in wage and price controls, and occasionally promote market interventionism.

*Whats wrong with somalia? Do you know if the murder rate there is higher than detriot (detroit =37 per100k, somalia 33 per100k)? Do you know how much regulation hinders companies there? Other than our CIA's attempted coups in Somalia, what makes you think its so bad? Perhaps you are Somalian and you think the rule of law provided by your own property owners should be replaced by a CIA supported dictator?

The really crazy republicans (the ones who want to abolish SS and medicare)... well, I'm not even sure they actually want to cut those programs.

I'm pretty sure they whine about these things only because a year ago they had nowhere to go but up. Blanket opposition ended up evening their approval numbers with the democratic congress - through lies only.

I want to cut government spending all together. Calvin Coolidge and Thomas Jefferson did that and they paid off a good amount of debt. Reagan and Bush cut taxes but didn't really hold back on spending which increase the national debt.

Libertarianism has failed. sorry but look at Somalia.
